    Day

January 25, 2019 was a long-anticipated day for all of our

students at Choi Wan St. Joseph's Primary School. It was our English Day which usually

happens bi-yearly! Prior to this day, our teachers and students had been working collaboratively and diligently

writing the script, making props and costumes and rehearsing their play for the drama competition in the school hall. The fruit

of their effort was enjoyed and appreciated by many when they were performing on the stage. What an amazing show!In addition to the show in the school hall, students actively participated in a variety of English activities that were held in the classrooms and covered playground. To name a few, Super TV, QR-code Treasure Hunt and Guessing Games were some of the students' favourites. Throughout the day, students were

immersed in a language-rich environment, where they could apply what they had learned while having fun.

Teachers and students should give themselves a pat on the back for making this event a

    memorable and successful one!

Our school organized a study tour for 30 Primary 5 and 6 students from November 6 to 10, 2018. This tour was led by two experienced tour guides together with our Headmistress Miss Chan , four teachers and four parent helpers. The tour was designed to motivate students to explore the unique culture of Japan by visiting historical sites in Kansai. For many of us, November 6 was a big day as it was our fi rst visit to Japan. No wonder we all landed in Osaka International Airport with curiosity and great excitement. We then headed to the fi rst spot – Tsutenkaku. On top of the tower, we were welcomed and embraced by the gorgeous night view of Osaka City. Following by quick snapshots of the stunning sight was our fi rst tasty dinner in Japan. "Oishii! Arigatou! (Japanese saying which means "Yummy" and "Thank You"), every student communicated with local Japanese naturally and bravely while they were having their meal. During our 6-day trip, a stop at the temples or shrines is certainly high up on our list as Japan’s Shinto and Buddhist culture and temples are an integral part of Japan’s landscape. After exploring

such marvelous places as Fushimi-Inari Taisha, Golden Pavilion Temple, Todaiji Temple, we were astonished by the functional features of the each piece of artistic building. We all agreed that "seeing is believing"! Apart from the historical buildings, the visit to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan was sure another rewarding experience for us. Kaiyukan is one of Japan’s most spectacular aquariums. The exotic aquatic animals grabbed our attention for a long time. We also learnt about "Whale Shark" in an interactive and informative talk there. Many of us left inspired by the stimulating and fun-fi lled exploration. Not only Kaiyukan is a place for fun and learning, the visit to Amami Elementary School is no exception. With the hospitality given by the Principal, teachers and students in Amami Elementary School, we sent our warmest gratitude with songs and blessings. On the last day of our trip, every student left Japan with joy and thankfulness. We will share the fruitful experience with our Primary 4 to 6 schoolmates in May, 2019. Great cheers to this fun-filled learning trip – a precious learning beyond classrooms!

Be Nice To OthersIn the morning, the weather was very hot. I went to the park with my cat. I played with the cat in the park happily.

My cat climbed up the tree because the dog barked

at my cat loudly. My cat was afraid. Someone called a fireman for help and the fi reman arrived at the park. He had a long ladder to save my cat. The owner of the cat was glad. The reporter took the photos of the fireman. In the newspaper, I could see the fireman’s photos. I thanked the fireman because he saved my cat. I felt lucky because my cat didn’t get hurt.

The dog’s master said sorry to me. We should always give one another a helping hand. When people are in need, we should help one another.
