'Tis the season to be JOLLY BY JEWELL MOORE CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS

With the holiday season upon us, we would like to help spread the

cheer while having your back this Christmas.

Many companies will be soon celebrating their office Christmas

party,  and while this is a well deserved break and reward for the

past year of hard work and dedication - it is important to set some

personal ground rules - to protect yourself, from yourself.

    1. DO - Show up

The office Christmas party is a great chance to wind down from the

year and get to know your colleagues, possibly with the chance to

find  some common ground with that colleague you have struggled

    to connect with.

    2. DO - Be prepared

Say it with me now - "Advil, Uber, Flats". Even if you aren't planning

on drinking at this Christmas party - prepare to. If you don't end up

needing the Advil, we all know George from HR will (sorry George),

it is never worth taking the risk of possibly drink-driving, and you

know your feet will thank me.

    3. DO - Have fun

This is your reward for a year well-worked. Don't just sit in the

corner like a stick in the mud, have a chat and enjoy yourself.

  • Fa-La-La-La-La  La-La-La-BLAH

While it is important to have fun, it is also important to be able to

return to work with your dignity in-tact.

    1. DON'T - Lose Control

Alcohol is great fun - in moderation. But as we all know, there is a

line with alcohol consumption that once crossed - can do irreparable

damage to your ego and reputation.

    2. DON'T - Do the Peacock

Think about your outfit and make sure it is appropriate for the

location of the Christmas party. It might be a good idea to ask your

colleagues what they're planning on wearing to give you some ideas

so you can stand out for the right reasons.

    3. DON'T - Pike Out

Stick around for a little bit and try not to be the first to leave.

We hope you have a safe and fun holiday season.
