This major provides students with a solid basis in communication that will serve their future career in these professions and many others. For those already employed, Communication will enhance professional skills by developing integrated strategies for application to professional goals.

Interdisciplinary StudyCore courses and restricted electives in Communication are drawn from a variety of disciplines, including journalism, humanities, media studies and visual arts.

Degrees in Journalism, Broadcasting and Communication are offered as part of the collaborative mission of the Department of Communication.

Transfer AgreementsThe program prepares students for transfer to four-year state colleges and universities in New Jersey, as well as to other public and private universities. Students may continue on as communication majors or adopt other specializations including (but not limited to) public relations, advertising, new media production, social media management, media research, public communication, broadcasting, film, journalism.

Multiple agreements of articulation exist between the Department of Communication and other local institutions.

FacilitiesStudents work in a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose journalism classroom with access to the full Adobe suite. Students in the Broadcasting and Communication programs work in the brand-new, $1.9 million Alex DeCroce Media Center. The renovated facility features high-definition technology, a digital media editing classroom, scenery work room, two studio control rooms, a green room for guests, and a teaching studio and professional studio both with green screen cycloramas to create a variety of background images for videos.
