NEW PARKING PERMITS ISSUEDby Linda Shein, CMCA, AMSA times to re-register their vehicles. Letters will be sent to

inform of these dates.

Homeowners need to bring legal vehicle registration to the Cinnamon Woods Offi ce in order to be issued new parking permits. Failure to re-register your vehicles before your court’s due date will result in your vehicle(s) being tagged with a sticker and towed after 72 hours. Be

sure to come by our offi ce at your earliest convenience.

Because of the huge number of permits that need to be issued, please do not put off re-registering your vehicle. Doing so may result in a long wait and we would like to serve you in a timely manner.

What should I do?1. Keep an eye out for our letter, letting you know when you need to have your new permit.

2. Plan to come in at your earliest convenience and bring vehicle registration by the Cinnamon Woods Offi ce to re-register your vehicle(s).

the dark color and location on the current permits, it is very diffi cult for the police, towing company, etc. to be able to easily see the permit in the vehicles.

3. Remove the old permit and return it to the offi ce.

4. Place your new permit(s) in the front passenger-side of your window, on the inside in the lower comer.

5. The Management Team will be happy to assist anyone with the correct placement of the permits. The Board has the sole authority to assign parking spaces. The board reserves the right to withdraw the assignment of a reserved parking space from any owner who, through a pattern of violations to this policy, abuse the rights of fellow owners and residents or delinquency in the payment of homeowners association assessments, demonstrates that the right to a preferential assigned parking space is not justifi ed.

The use of a reserved parking space may be further assigned by the owners of a dwelling unit to a lessee of that dwelling unit. Owners will be notifi ed by letter of their parking space number once the project is completed within the next sixty days.

Enforcement of the permit policy will be consistent with the current guidelines. A vehicle parked without registration tags from Motor Vehicle Administration or parked in the fi re lane will be automatically towed. A vehicle parked illegally without a permit will be in violation and subjected to a 48 hour notifi cation for towing, which begins on the due date designated to your court.

Due dates will be included in the letter that you receive from the Management Offi ce. If you have any questions, please call the Management Offi ce at (301) 972-1850.

DOG OWNERS

Please be aware that children are out playing in the neighborhood and your dogs must be on a leash. Let’s not have children being bitten by dogs running loose. Also scoop your dogs poop!!!

Do not let your dog “go” in someone else’s yard or in community spaces where children play.

Let’s all make more of an effort to clean up our neighborhood of dog poop.

Market Tip: As a seller you actually create how good or bad the market is. If you price your home above or equal to the other listings, then it is a moderate to bad market. If you set yourself apart by pricing your property below the other homes, then you just created a good market. It is all relative to pricing, and I am always available to explain the details.

COUNTY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR ALL

by Susan A. Lerner, Vice PresidentMontgomery County is one of the richest counties in the DC Metropolitan area. The homes in the County are some of the most expensive. Food, gasoline and even the shopping centers are higher priced than in other adjoining counties. We all know this to be true. Go to Anne Arundal or Prince Georges Counties and compare the cost of almost anything with the cost of similar good and services in Montgomery County. As such, the residents of Montgomery County are seen as being quite wealthy.

The question is: Is this true? Is everyone who lives in Montgomery County rich?

Does every family in the county have all they need and more? Are we a county of privileged people? Although it would be nice to answer YES to those questions, that is not the case at all.

There are many families in Montgomery County who are “just making it”. There are families who don’t have enough money for food, utilities (especially electricity) and other e s s e n t i a l needs. Often, each morning, the children in these families go to school hungry. Parents must choose between food, clothing or medications because they don’t have enough money for all three.

It’s easy to forget that this is the case right here, where we live. If poverty doesn’t stare you in the face, you don’t see it. If it does stare you in the face, you turn away. Who wants to look at that? Who wants to be reminded? But, you know something? While Montgomery County may be rich, it is ALSO compassionate.

Montgomery County has a number of services, agencies, and programs for its residents who require help. Many of these programs are not well known. The Board of Directors of Cinnamon Woods is taking this opportunity to acquaint all of our families with what is available in the County and who

are the people who can benefi t from the various programs that are offered. It may be the case that some families right here in Cinnamon Woods could use this help. It may be that someone knows of a family in the County that needs this information.

Whatever the case, it’s important to remember that we are a Community. Community is defi ned, fi rst, as: “a unifi ed b o d y of individuals” and secondly as: “the people with

common interests living in a particular area”. That is us: a body of people with common interests. One of our most

important common interests is each other. Whether it’s our next-door neighbor, whom we have known for the last ten years, or someone down the street or in the next town, whom we have

never met, we are a community.

Isn’t it ironic that there are people from all over the world that fl ock to this country because this is the land of the free? This country is paradise to most of them. “The people in America are so friendly and this is the place to go.” Yet, Americans take for granted what is here. They see each other and will not speak. A neighbor can be struggling with groceries and we will not offer to help. What has happen to America?

Once upon a time “it took a village to raise a child”; you didn’t have to worry about your children when you sent them out to play. Neighbors looked out for each other. If they saw someone hanging around your house or car they would let you know and let the people know they saw them. Now you’d better not say anything to someone else’s child or the whole family will be ready to burn your house down. If you say anything to someone hanging around; they would just as soon shoot you as to answer you.

The other day (always traffi c was backed-up getting on to Clopper Road, a lady tried to get on to Clopper Road from

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE AMERICA WE LOVE?Cinnamon Drive. She sat there for twenty minutes before anyone would let her in. Traffi c wasn’t going anywhere, so what was the harm?

We don’t look out for people crossing the street either. There have been a number of times that cars turning out of Cinnamon Woods have almost run over walkers try to get to the bus stop. Have you not heard “(“Pedestrians have the right of way”)

Neighbor’s summer is upon us, school is out and our children are out in full force. Be alert! Cinnamon Drive is not the Indianapolis Speedway. The speed limit is 25 mph. There are a number of small children living in Cinnamon Woods at this time let’s keep them safe. Slow down!

With school out and children playing outside please look out for balls running out into the street, and bicycles dotting in and out from behind parked cars. Let’s make this a happy and safe summer. Neighbors slow down, look around, and be proud to be an American or in America.
