GLIMPSES - New Arrivals in the Library

Business Intelligence: Data Mining and Optimization for Decision Making by Carlo Vercellis, Publisher: Wiley India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, 2018, Paperback, ISBN 978-81-265-4188-1, 440 pages, Rs. 619/- From the Preface of the Book – ―….The interpretation of the term business intelligence that we have illustrated and that we intend to develop in the book is much broader and deeper compared to the narrow meaning publicized over the last few years by many software vendors and information technology magazines. According to this latter vision, business intelligence methodologies are reduced to electronic tools for querying, visuali-zation and reporting, mainly for accounting and control purposes. Of course, no one can deny that rapid access to information is an invaluable tool for decision makers…….‖ The book is divided into three parts - Part I: Components of the decision-making proc-ess, Part II: Mathematical models and methods, and Part III: Business intelligence appli-cations. Software tools are covered in Appendix A and Dataset repositories are covered in Appendix B.

Network Warrior: Everything You Need to Know That Wasn’t on the CCNA Exam, by Gary A. Donahue, O’reilly Media Inc.., 2018, Paperback, ISBN 978-93-5023-415-0, 808 pages, Rs.1,275/- From the Preface: ―….all the examples used in this book are drawn from real experi-ences, most of which I faced myself during my career as a networking engineer, consult-ant, manager, and director.‖

Pick up where certification exams leave off. With this practical, in depth guide to the

entire network infrastructure, you’ll learn how to deal with real CISCO networks, rather

than the hypothetical situations presented on exams like the CCNA. Network Warrior

takes you step by step through the world of routers, switches, firewalls, and other tech-

nologies based on the author’s extensive field experience. You’ll find new content for

MPLS, IPv6, VoIP, and wireless in this completely revised second edition, along with ex-

amples of Cisco Nexus 5000 and 7000 switches throughout.

Cybersecurity Law, by Jeff Kosseff, Wiley India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, 2019, Paper-back, ISBN: 978-81-265-7973-0, 496 pages, Rs.995/- Expanding on the author’s experience as a cyber security lawyer and law professor, Cybersecurity Law is the definitive guide to cyber security law, with an in-depth analysis of U.S. and international laws that apply to data security, data breaches, sensitive in-formation safeguarding, law enforcement surveillance, cybercriminal combat, privacy, and many other cyber security issues. Written in an accessible manner, the book pro-vides real-world examples and case studies to help readers understand the practical applications of the presented material. The book begins by outlining the legal require-ments for data security, which synthesizes the Federal Trade Commission’s cyber security cases in order to provide the background of the FTC’s views on data security. The book also examines data security requirements imposed by a growing number of state legis-latures and private litigation arising from data breaches. Anti-hacking laws, such as the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Economic Espionage Act, and the Digital Mil-lennium Copyright Act, and how companies are able to fight cybercriminals while ensur-ing compliance with the U.S. Constitution and statutes are discussed thoroughly.

A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life. ― Charles Darwin
