Case Study

Welding Control Pulpit

Process Details: Welding control facility for one of Europe's leading manufacturers of hot finished & cold formed welded steel tubular products, structural hollow sections and large diameter pipe.

Scope of Work: To design, manufacture and deliver the required unit, this being of approximate overall sizes 4.0m long x 2.5m wide x 2.8m high.

Design Considerations: -Structural steel skeleton complete with integral lattice frame floor (fully boarded). Walls and roof over-clad with bespoke manufactured panelling.

Panel inner fascias in a colour coated galvanised steel substrate for durability, longevity, colour retention, ease of cleaning etc.

The overall heavy duty construction being suitable for operation in the noisy, dirty & dusty conditions associated with this heavy industrial process, and fit for purpose in providing a safe working environment for operations and maintenance personnel.

Single man access doors for personnel entry / egress and emergency exit.

Acoustically insulated vision panels strategically positioned about the facility, providing operational personnel with the required overview of the mill and the specific `Pipe Welding' process.

The unit provides the housed computer & visual display equipment with suitable protection against the harmful effects of condensation, corrosion etc.

Industrial type air conditioning unit ensures total comfort of personnel and the satisfactory operation of the installed electrical equipment.

Turnkey package included the provision of suspended ceilings, modular & emergency lighting, mains power & data transfer services, finished floor overlays etc.

Acoustic Performance: The overall construction reduced operational noise levels by 20dB, bringing factory ambient noise levels in the surrounding area to well below the First Exposure Action Level (80dBA) of the Control of Noise At Work Regulations 2005, thus allowing personnel to effectively communicate in a stress-free, comfortable environment.
