C51 RESERVOIR PROJECT UPDATEDesign, Permitting and CoordinationNOVEMBER 10, 2014
C51 RESERVOIR
LOCATION
C-51 Reservoir Benefits► Existing rock mine with unique
geological features
► Location is ideally suited for a multitude of water resource benefits
► Utilizes existing infrastructure for conveyance with some improvements
Augmenting existing water suppliesImproving flood control in western Palm
Beach CountyEnhancing water quality protection for
the EvergladesReducing harmful discharges to Lake
Worth LagoonMitigating saltwater intrusionProtecting against droughtMitigating climate change impacts
C-51 Reservoir Benefits
The project could be eligible for a long-term permit (S. 373.236(5), F.S. and as a Preferred Water Source (S. 373.2234 F.S.)
As a multi-jurisdictional project, it is expected that the C-51 Project would rank highly for alternative water supply funding under the "Water Protection and Sustainability Program" (S. 403.890, F.S.)
Potential for permit modifications vs. a new permit
