The band Seven Eyes was formed in 2015 by classically trained guitarist Paulo Vinícius from Brazil and UK based vocalist Tanya Wells, who specialises in folk, jazz and Hindustani classical vocal techniques. Accompanied by special guest artists, this cultural blend of music promises to plant the seeds of soulful sounds for a special tour.

Since first taking to the stage in 2007 with flat caps and ‘weskits’, The Hotpots have become the go-to band for those wanting a light hearted, distinctly northern musical view on life. Their set is full of raucous comedy songs, congas, puppets and pirates and has made them firm festival favourites famous for good time, singalonga fun.

Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have long established themselves as one of the UK folk scene’s most rewardingly enduring partnerships. With a story that includes over 20 years of music making with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have consolidated themselves as pillars of modern British folk.

Director Ron Howard takes a look back at the years when the Beatles were still a touring band, from their early performances in Europe in 1963 to their decision in 1966 to quit playing publicly in order to focus on their work in the studio. This is a rare opportunity to see a collection of this local artist’s work exhibited together outside private ownership. He works in all mediums, subject matters, and styles, He understands that the commissioned piece dictates the style, though prefers classic realism to interpretive contemporary styles.

Where do you begin to tell the story of Scotland? With the myths, the legends and the battles? Or by building a castle in your granny’s back green? This story is told by Andy Cannon, formerly of Wee Stories and one of Scotland’s finest storytellers, accompanied by composer and musician Wendy Weatherby. A great family show for all generations.

California songwriter Corinne West is a poet, a tunesmith, a visionary and an utterly stellar performer. Skerryvore Sunday 7 May 8pm (doors open at 7pm) £15*

Skerryvore first formed on the tiny lsle of Tiree off Scotland’s west coast in 2005 over a shared love of music: everything from traditional to rock and jazz. It was this mix of musical styles and sounds that set the path for the band’s 2005 debut album, ‘West Coast Life’. But it was with the release of self-titled third album, ‘Skerryvore’, that the band found themselves catapulted into the musical limelight winning a string of prestigious awards, including SNMA Record of the Year 2011 and STMA Live Act of the Year 2011.

The event is to celebrate 20 years of Carlisle Key. Carlisle Key is a local charity that helps vulnerable 16 to 25 year olds to gain the confidence, support and resources they need to avoid the risk, or resolve the reality, of homelessness. In 1982 the Sir Galahad was destroyed in Bluff Cove on the Falkland Islands. On board was Simon Weston, Welsh Guardsman, a name and face that was going to become well known for his struggle to overcome his injuries and redefine his role in life.

Martin’s interpretations of traditional songs are masterpieces of storytelling. His solo shows are intense, eclectic, spellbinding and deeply moving. There is no-one who has more successfully combined the diverse elements of British, Afro-American and old-timey music than Simpson.

Audioclub have crafted their sound by combining big riffs with infectious hooks and unique vocals to create huge indie rock tunes. The band are well known for their high energy live shows, storming through their original songs and providing a unique take on some unexpected covers.

Emily’s story is remarkable. Classically trained as a child, she taught herself the guitar and started writing songs when she found herself stuck at home with a chronic illness. A few years later, back on her feet, she decided to give up her flat in London for a shack made from recycled wood, tin and potato sacks on a farm out in the Australian bush where she lived self-sufficient with her Australian partner, financing her music by making and selling goats cheese on the farm. Following the release of her critically acclaimed albums ‘Stranger Place’ and ‘Keep Walking’, Emily returned to the UK touring extensively with some of the world’s great singer-songwriters including American legend Don McLean, Eric Bibb, Paul Brady and Roddy Frame.

Whilst his achievements during his first decade as a recording artist would have been more than enough to ensure his iconic status, Hunter has never been one to coast on past glories. Carlisle & Cumbria Artists’ Exhibition Wednesday 26 July - Sunday 6 August Free entry

This year marks the group’s 49th exhibition; each year proceeds from the exhibition are shared between the Cathedral and a chosen local charity. New artists exhibit each year. The selection process takes part every April. Artists who wish to be considered must submit four pieces of work and the entire C&CA committee forms the Selection Committee. Individual voting takes place and the votes are counted; applicants must receive more than 50% of the votes to be accepted. This year’s exhibition hopes to raise funds for Carlisle Cathedral and Blood Bikes Cumbria Community.

This piece is a verbatim theatre project, working with Cumbrian flood victims and their stories to create a relatable and honest performance. The project is devised, created and performed by flood victims of a variety of ages and backgrounds.
