Managing Infection in your vibrant circle of society
Did You Know…
Frequent hand washing can break the germ transfer chain & protect children’s health
Research reveals that students receive about
20% of their environmental exposure in
schools, accounting for a significant factor in
the transfer of infections within the community.
The spectrum of society that meet on a daily basis at
schools and educational centres, ranging from toddlers
to teenagers, parents and grandparents, provides an
opportunity for conversation and activity but also a unique
platform for transfer of common infections and disease that
continue to blight our society. In the home, parents returning
from work are subject to this unspoken exchange and
return to work the following day where their colleagues
obliviously join the fray.
Within the built environment, classrooms, lecture theatres,
assembly halls, gymnasia and canteens are all subject to
high density occupancy with rapid changeover of groups.
This provides the ideal circumstances for cross infection
that can lead to serious infectious outbreaks.
Absence of staff and students through illness causes
serious disruption and arises from transmission of
airborne pathogens from person to person, transmission
by touch on the surfaces of desks, keyboards and
door handles etc.
Educational centres are extremely vulnerable because
of frequent migration of classes from room to room.
Intermingling of the whole school or college population
at assemblies, break times and lunch times, as well as
high density occupation of classrooms, lecture theatres
and laboratories, provide perfect opportunities for
infection transfer.
Clean Academy is the perfect solution to this infection
rife environment.
Bacteria, including MRSA,
can survive in a variety
of conditions for long
periods of time and can
spread via dust particles,
clothing, furniture and
musical instruments

Introducing the New Solution for Schools – Clean AcademyClean Academy provides the management of key
elements in your environment. Using a simple inventory
of environmentally sound, child safe and ecologically
sustainable cleaning products combined with clear, precise
and traceable monitoring, it is a proven and effective
programme that guarantees to reduce cross contamination
Many schools now understand the benefits of creating a healthier
environment by implementing green cleaning and indoor air quality
programmes. The key benefits include :-
Risk of an adverse health effect is minimised
Attracting and retaining good teachers
Savings due to reduced teacher sick leave
Improved student attendance and performance
Reduced insurance premiums
Sanitation is particularly important where young children face the threat
of the spread of illness with unique health hazards, especially respiratory
infections, asthma attacks, skin disease and diarrhoea out-breaks.
Defined as “cleaning to protect health without harming the environment,”
the Clean Academy green cleaning programmes employ processes that
promote health, safety and social consciousness, include and promotes
the use of environmentally friendly janitorial products and equipment.
According to re-search “there is a direct connection between healthy
school environments; behaviours and attitudes of students, parents,
and educators; and academic achievement.” Being a scalable solution
the principles apply equally to small schools and nursery groups right
through to large Universities.
Clean Academy is a unique cleaning plan that enables schools to
publically demonstrate their commitment to well being through pre
compliance to the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and the Public
Bodies ( Social Value ) Act 2012, the latter of which requires an
ongoing demonstration of commitment with regards to economic,
social and environmental well being.
How it begins.Following an assessment of your environment an implementation
plan will be recommended specific to your goals and budgets and
will provide all you need to begin this proven and effective infection
control programme.
The Clean Academy Infection programme includes product training,
cleaning guides and records, electronic testing equipment, supportive
literature to promote hygiene awareness and free use of emblems,
relative to the particular aspects and products utilised.
The Three aspects of Clean Academy
Surface cleaningSurface cleaning, paramount for basic sanitation is stage
one and is managed using a simple inventory of proven
and effective, child safe chemicals. Cleaning records
and best practice guides are available.
Hand washing and sanitising
Following research that demonstrates that an infected
child can contaminate at least half their class through
poor hand washing, effective and child safe hand
washing products are another essential part to the
success of the scheme.
Air purity
The spread of illness through air borne pathogens plays
a significant part in transfer of infection. Through use of
air purification equipment this is greatly reduced.
Synergy through Trilogy
Defined as the working together of items to give
results that are greater than the sum of their
individual effects, synergy in cleanliness is
achieved by the trilogy of Clean Academy.

Measurement for management - Monitoring your environment
SystemSURE Plus™
ATP Hygiene Monitoring System
SystemSURE Plus is the world’s best-selling ATP hygiene monitoring
system. This new system uses state-of-the-art electronics with
improved functionality. Measuring adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the
universal energy molecule found in all animal, plant, bacteria, yeast
and mould cells, residues – particularly food or organic
residue – that contain large amounts of ATP can be detected. When
left on a surface, residues can harbour and grow bacteria, cause
cross-contamination, develop biofilm and many other problems.
Through regular monitoring and a structured approach to cleaning
and sanitation, the environment around you becomes a quantifiable
and manageable task.
