statement. If this error is encountered when compiling a program

it will persist. That is, all future compiles of the same

unmodified program will also fail.

SYMPTOMS:

ABEND S0C4 on MVS

SEGFAULT, BUS ERROR, or similar errors on other platforms

IMPACT:

The program cannot be compiled.

CIRCUMVENTION:

Removing the offending DISPLAY statement will prevent the failure.

Also, since the failure is caused by uninitialized storage, a

rearrangement of the statements in the program may prevent the

failure.
