Akola is the 3rd Largest city in Vidharbha Region of Maharashtra. Akola also

known as “Cotton City” is famous for its Agro based industries such as Dall Mill, Cotton Ginning and Oil Mills. Akola recently featured on National Platform when our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi awarded appreciation to Akola Municipal Corporation Administration for being part of Clean Morna Campaign (River Cleaning Campaign).

Shegaon is 45 Kms from Akola City. Shegaon is a renowned pilgrimage center of international fame and is situated in the district of Buldhana. The city gained significance since Sant Shri Gajanan Maharaj, a holy saint with miraculous power lived there. Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple is built at his place of Samadhi. The temple is being managed by Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan. The Sansthan has developed and runs a Spiritual as well as Entertainment Center for the Tourist known as “Anand Sagar” which is spread across 350 acres of land consisting of Park, Meditation Center and playing facilities for Children. The laser light musical show is an added attraction. The Sansthan also owns and runs many Bhakt Niwas (Residential Lodging and Dinning facility) for the Devotees at very economic rates. Shegaon is also famous for its delicious “Kachoris” which feature a unique taste.

Another center of importance is Khamgaon which is approximately 50 kms from Akola and 16 kms from Shegaon. Khamgaon is known as Silver City. The city offers purest form of Silver in whole of India and also has many craftsmen who create wonders with Silver and offer a variety of silver products.

Lonar a place approximately 120 kms from Akola is famous for Lonar Crater. It is World’s only Salt Water Lake in Basaltic Rock (Moon Rock). It is believed to have been caused by a meteorite hitting Earth some 52000 years ago. Many tourist from round the globe visit and study the creation of Crater and the Lake. The recently discovered Bacterial Strain (Bacillus Odysseyi) from the Crater site resembles the one found on planet Mars.
