    Conceptual profiles of potential candidates

Our market research results have enabled us to develop a detailed picture of some of the potential

candidates who would want to hold, and who could benefit from the Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA).Conceptual case studies of potential candidates for the CAA are set out below.

    Personas in India

An employee working in the actuarial technical team of a large insurance firm

I work in a team of 50 actuarial technical staff for a large insurance firm in Mumbai, India. In the firmthere are 800 people working in the technical team. Our employer is very supportive of putting usthrough qualifications and has been known to support staff through the Chartered Institute ofInsurance (CII) and the Pension Management Institute (PMI) exams. In my role I concentrate onpensions valuations: it is a very technical, numerate role.

The Certified Actuarial Analyst qualification would be good for me to take as it would give me a formalqualification and it would give me a good background to the work that I am undertaking for the fewqualified actuaries that work for the firm.

A university student from Delhi University

I am in my final year at Delhi University, studying actuarial science and looking at my options for a

career. I have been looking at career paths within the finance sector but the job market is socompetitive. Employers want us to have many qualifications before they will even consider us - it ishard to stand out from the crowd.

I have heard of the Certified Actuarial Analyst qualification and think that it is a good way to show anemployer that I can take professional exams and have financial knowledge, and therefore that I am agood investment. With so many people coming in without the right entry level qualifications it will giveme a way to show my new skills and qualification to employers.

An employee working in a data analytics team for an insurance firm

I work in a team of 30 data analysts for an insurance firm in Kolkata, India. I have a degree ineconomics. Whilst I want to work in this function and like working with actuaries, I dont want to qualifymyself. The problem I find is that I dont understand the context to the business that actuaries do and Iwant to make sure that I can progress in my career.

The company I work for is encouraging me to do the Certified Actuarial Analyst qualification. They saythat it would give me the context to the work that actuaries do, then perhaps I may understand thedata that I am analysing in more detail. It would also give me a formal qualification to put on my CVand of course a certificate to take home and show my parents.
