Computers were made to crunch numbers First made was steam powered and failed First successful made to count the census The first computer that was made came from a
group of people who would eventually become IBM

ARPAnet was created to combat feared Soviet missiles
Univiersities started using the technologies Once all of these Local Area Networks needed
to be connected, meetings started to happen This is where the RFC comes from

First connection method uses phone lines in order to keep a school paper up to date
This caused the eventual birth of the 56k modem
The 56k modem is what brought the Internet into households

Businesses needed faster Internet connection methods
This caused phone companies to develop T1 lines which used 24 voice channels instead of 1
Very costly as needed to be connected to a web server as well

Demand for speeds in households rose Phone companies started providing DSL Cable companies started splitting their signal
for Internet and cable This is where the cable Internet connection
method was born

Cable Internet are split between cable TV and Internet
Speeds of 5-30 Mbps Signal won't degrade from weather One of the most demanded form of Internet
connection today
Open Internet
Open Internet is a legal conflict being fought between netziens and the government
Net Neutrality becoming a large issue in society
FCC makes Open Internet Order FCC asking for opinions in making legislation
on Internet privacy
Summery
Once the history is understood, it is easier to understand how cable Internet came to be
Due to its advantages it is still one of the most widely used internet connection methods today
Fiber might be the future, but it is still too costly to convert
