A friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
Princess Hello Ladies, I have missed you! I hope you enjoyed yourselves this summer wherever you
spent the time and that you made memories to smile about. It is September already with plans of attending
W.A.O.U.M. in Portland, Oregon Oct 20 - 22. I do not have the final count going but it looks like a large attendance. If you desire to attend and need info on airline travel please call or email me. Rates are priced low right now. It is pos-sible that we have a room available. Talk about making memories, every time we travel my sides hurt for weeks afterwards from all the laughter.
I cannot wait to see you at the Court Meeting Sept, 26th. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the things you do and give to Sphinx Court and the Shrine Hospitals. You are Amazing! See you soon.

High Priestess It‘s been a long, hot, summer, but we‘re back and ready to start working for the KIDS! We started our summer with a really successful golf tournament and then traveled to Sarasota,
FL, for our annual Grand Council meet -- what a won-derful time we had there. Now, we‘re done with three months of ―dark‖ time and we are raring to go‘!
Our first Court meeting is September 26, 2011 at El Zaribah Shrine. We serve dinner at 5:30 followed by Court at 7 pm. Call Lady Mimi Bohlman for reserva-tions.
On Sunday, October 9th we‘ll hold our Fall Member-ship Tea at 2 pm at El Zaribah. If you have a friend or potential candidate, please call her to check interest in our tea. Encourage her to join us for the fun of working for the children,(we see miracles happening at the Shriners Hospitals). Our Ceremonial, where we induct our new candidates, will be held on Saturday, November 19th -- more about that in a later issue.
Just a word about seeing ‗miracles‘ happening; did you read about the Shriner Child, McKenzie Mahr from Chicago Shrine Hospital who learned to walk with the Lokomat machine. She was born with a severe head injury & could only do a belly crawl. The Lokomat helped her learn to walk & now at 13years old she looks & walks like a normal kid. Our Grand High Priestess, Sandy Newby, has chosen the Lokomat as her ‗special project‘ this year. How great it will be for us to help. Her Official Visit is January 23, 2012.
We are going to Portland, OR October 20th – 22nd, 2011 for our annual Western Area Unit Meet (WAOUM). We always have a marvelous time at this meet. It‘s a chance to catch up with friends around the country and pick up new and different ideas about how to help the KIDS! Call our Recorder, Lady Linda Curry for addi-tional information.
We have good news regarding Lady Sandy Stegan. She is now the Grand Guardian of Jobs Daughters (HP article continued)
International in Arizona. If you remember, her daugh-ter Jesse is Miss Job‘s Daughter International of Arizona and her husband is the Grand Commander of York Rite.
Their daughter Ann was Miss Job‘s Daughter of Arizona last year. What a family!
Take advantage of our GREAT fundraisers that are ongoing right now; they help cover our expenses. The first is an awesome opportunity to own $500 by spend-ing only $5 per ticket. Even if you have purchased a ticket already, buy another to increase your opportunity for November 19th…..AND, we still have some of the wonderful LOS Cookbooks for sale for only $15 apiece. We‘ve had great feedback on these attractive books and if you don‘t already have one, call us. They make won-derful gifts!!!
Jack Wade, husband of Pam Wade, was elected Grand Sentinel of Eastern Star. This would mean that he is on the path to be Worthy Grand Patron in 2013. We extend congratulations to him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are ill and have lost loved ones.

Associate Princess It‘s been a long hot summer and I hope all our ladies will be happy to be back and ready to work for our kids in the hospitals. The Salt Lake Hospital has this program
called ―Happy Feet‖ which are special tennis shoes for the children. Each pair costs $25 to $35 and do-nations are welcome to supply our special children with these special shoes. If you won‘t be attending court meetings, please send a check to our Recorder, with a note to her that this is for the ―HAPPY FEET'‘ project for Salt Lake Hospital. School supplies and or gift cards for Wal-mart, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, any of the fast food places that children like to have lunch there with their parents are also desired by the hospitals. During the holidays small toys or gift cards for the children would be great. I know they like some under garments as well for boys and girls in assorted sizes. Thank you to the members and units for all the items that have been donated already. If you have a friend who would like to donate items, please feel free to accept them and make a Happy Shriner‘s Kid. Thank you all so much for all you do for the chil-dren God Bless.

Ceremonial Pageantry This has certainly been a long, hot summer. I am
looking forward to fall and cooler temperatures. We are planning to travel to WAOUM in October
and at our September 19th meeting we will discuss practices to get ready for the trip. Our meeting will begin right after the Sphinx Court Travel Fund meet-ing adjourns. We will also discuss plans for our pre-holiday party.
See you on the 19th if not before.
Lady Jean Glover, PHP Pres.
Second Ceremonial Lady Ladies, I hope you all had a very restful summer and were able to stay cool in the heat of the Valley. However, Sep-
tember is coming fast and we should all be ready to enjoy our activities again.
The Court Meeting is September 26 with dinner at 5:00 p.m. Please be sure to notify me by the 21st if you are not having dinner, or if you want to be put on the list. Our wonderful cooks need a number, so no-body goes hungry. The menu is 3 salads with all the trimmings, plus iced tea and water.
See you in September.

Sphinx Court Travel Fund Committee Hello Ladies, this is an update from the Computer
Lanfest Party in June, everything went well, and we learned a lot from this one so we ending up making $1500 from it. Not so bad for our first time. I want to thank each and everyone who helped. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Our next project will be a ―STEAK FRY in Jan. 2012. Get ready for ―SHRINER‘S GOT TALENT EVENT AND STEAK FRY‖. More details next month along with tickets for the units and clubs to start sell-ing. Hope everyone had a safe and fun summer.

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and en-joyed the Corn Fest.
Please keep selling your opportunity tickets for the $500.00 and turn in any money you have at the September Court meeting. You can continue to sell them up to the time of the drawing on November 19th, but it helps to know where we stand if you turn in money as you can along with the stub.
Please remember, we still have those beautiful cook books for sale. They make great gifts for birthdays, Thanksgiving and think about getting your Christmas gifts early this year. Even if you don‘t cook, you could display one in your kitchen and make people think you do.
Hope to see you in Court.
Lady Barbara Hineman, PHP Chairman
