About Cadbury India Ltd:Cadbury India Ltd, a subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes Overseas Ltd is a leading global confectionery company with an outstanding portfolio of chocolate, gum and candy brands. The company manufactures and sells chocolate blocks, slabs or bars; coated wafer biscuits; malted food; and sugar confectionery. They also export their products to Srilanka, Dubai, Ghana & Maldives. Cadbury India Ltd was incorporated in the year 1948 as a private limited company with the name Cadbury Fry(India) Pvt Ltd. The company began their operations in India by importing chocolates in the year 1950s.Then The name of the company was changed from Cadbury Fry (India) Pvt Ltd to Cadbury India Ltd.

History:

Cadbury is the world’s largest confectionery company and its origins can be traced back to 1783 when Jacob Schweppes perfected his process for manufacturing carbonated mineral water in Geneva, Switzerland. The Cadbury story started in a small grocery shop in Birmingham, England, opened in 1824, by John Cadbury. The shop’s most popular product was cocoa and this led John Cadbury to move into chocolate manufacture. Realizing the Potential of his business, John Cadbury and his brother Benjamin formed a company, Cadbury brothers. In 1853, they received the Royal Warrant as manufacturers to Queen Victoria. The company has continued to hold Royal Warrants of appointment to this day. John Cadbury’s sons George & Richard took control of the business in 1861 &, introduced a new method for pressing the cocoa butter from cocoa beans to form cocoa essence, which was advertised as “Absolutely Pure-therefore best”

The yearly development of Cadbury: 1950 - The company started the

manufacture of chocolate & bournvita. Also they launched Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut.

1960 - The company set up a cocoa Research Center in Kerala. They set up their first plant in India at Thane in Maharashtra. Also they launched Cadbury’s Tiffin, Nut Butterscotch, Caramels, Crackle, 5 star & Gems

1970 – The company commissioned the Malt Extract Plant at Induri in Maharashtra. They launched Cadbury Éclairs.

1980 – The company was converted into a public limited company

1990 – The company launched Cadbury Perk, Cadbury Truffle & Cadbury Picnic

2002-The company increased the production of malted foods from 6570 tonnes to 7900 tonnes.

2003 - Halls were manufactured & successfully marketed by the company & Cadbury India launches Cadbury's Heroes

2004 - Amitabh Bachchan new brand ambassador for Cadbury Dairy Milk 2007 - Cadbury India has rolled out a wafer-based chocolate called 'Ulta Perk’ 2008 – They expanded the production capacity of Hard Boiled confectionery & Gums.March 2008 - They launched Cadbury Lite for consumers with diabetes May 2008 - The company joined hands with Tamilnadu Agricultural university for a research project to promote cocoa cultivation in Tamilnadu. October 2008 - The company launched their dark chocolate Cadbury Bournville Fine Dark Chocolate. The chocolate is available in four different variants namely, Rich Cocoa, Almond, Hazelnut ,Raisin & nut.2009 - They launched Cadbury Bournvita Li’l Champs, their latest offerings for children. 2011: They introduction of the Oreo biscuits, in India.

Since October 26,2005 Mr. . Anand Kripalu serves as Managing Director of Cadbury India Ltd., with responsibility for the Indian Sub – Continent. Mr. . Kripalu has a rich experience of over 24 years in FMCG industry. Mr. Kripalu is a Bachelor in Electronics from the Indian Institute Of Technology, Madras & an MBA from the Indian Institute Of Management, Calcutta.
