They arrive in the United Kingdom. Transported to Chirk in North Wales. They are put on the conveyer belt Dust and stones are cleaned off The beans are roasted The roasted beans are kibbled and winnowed leaving the nibs. The nibs are ground until liquid The liquid is mass’ cocoa butter is pressed out.

Mixed with sugar and fresh full

added. Finally rolled and cooled.

John Cadbury
Born 12th August 1801. Didn’t have the option
to go to university. 1831-manufacturing on
a commercial scale 1846-partnership with
brother Benjamin. Firm changed to the ‘Cadbury Brothers’.
1847-partnership dissolved. John retired

Richard and George Cadbury

1861-Richard, 21 and George,25 take over.
Richard was a talented artist. In 1868 he increased the appeal of chocolate boxes by decorating the lids with pictures.
George looked after production and buying and found the company’s new site in Bournville.

William Cadbury
• 1887-William Cadbury joined and engaged with engineering and maintenance.
• Commissioned the first proper Cadbury’s logo.

Advertising Cadbury
• John Cadbury always had a flare for advertising
• 1935-Cadbury film was published.
• 2nd world war-cocoa and chocolate were under government control.
• Cadbury’s ration chocolate was in introduced.
