1st Qtr 2016 Volume X Number I For more than a year, a group of Carousel friends has been working to put together a truly wonderful event to benefit A Carousel for Missoula. At last all the hard work has come to fruition and we are ready to present "Let Me Tell You a Story About a Horse." This event will feature music by the Singing Sons of Beaches and short stories 'about a horse' from several local celebrities, during an elegant dinner prepared by the chefs at Caffe Dolce, accompanied by wines from the cellar of Randy Cox. Our premiere sponsor for the event is the Washington Corporation. Storyteller sponsors are Boone Karlberg, PC and the Western Montana Clinic. Additional storyteller sponsorships ($1000) are available. Interested parties are invited to contact the Carousel at 5498382. Our guests will gather at Caffe Dolce beginning at 5pm, on Sun., April 24. At 5:30, dinner will be served: Menu: Amuse Bouche: Sweet Corn Soup with Smoked Trout & Crème Fraise Salad: Sorrel, Chicory, & Edible Flowers with Prickly Pear Vinaigrette Entrée: Grilled Montana Angus Beef Fillet with Grilled Apples and Morel Cream Dessert: Whiskey Marinated Huckleberry and Blackberry Shortcake with Lavender Whipped Cream At approximately 6pm, Mayor John Engen will give a short welcome and the Singing Sons of Beaches will take the stage. Over the next hour, as dinner continues, our storytellers will share their stories, interspersed with information about the Carousel's history, what it provides to the community, and its plans for the future. Caffe Dolce • 500 Brooks St Sunday, April 24 • 5~ 8pm The Storytellers who will graciously donate their time to present this evening are: Smoke Elser, outfitter and guide Bill Holt, former Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association announcer & owner of Holt Heritage Museum Tony Incashola, Director of the SalishPend d'Oreille Culture Committee Larry Pirnie, Western Artist Steve Riddle, who will also serve as Emcee Hal Stearns, Historian, Storyteller and Guide Tickets are $100 per person and seating is limited. Please call 5498382 to reserve your seat (or a table for 10) today. Many thanks to Hal and Sheila Stearns, Randy Cox, Steve Riddle, Peter Lambros and his staff at Caffe Dolce who have worked with Carousel staff to bring this event to you. Carousel closure is a productive time Each year, the Carousel closes for only 12 days, but during those twelve days a lot of work gets done. Maggie Caraway gathers her very talented friends and family to pamper the ponies. They get a bath and applications of fresh paint and sealer where the last year's coat has worn thin with loving. Tom Blunn, the Boys of Wednesday and their spouses spend a day scrubbing the building from top to bottom. It's not a pretty job, but someone has to do it and they do it so well. The Carousel's mechanical volunteers use the closure time to perform major work on the frame and motor. Together with Carosuel staff, these volunteers keep us looking good and running well!

Spread the word!       It  has  always  been  the  policy  of   the  Carousel  that  anyone  with  a  physical  or  mental  disability   is  welcometo  ride  for   free,  but   it  seems  to  be  a  well-‐kept  secret.  We  will  not  ask   if  an   individual  has  a  disability  unless  (s)he  has  a  wheelchair  or  other  device  that  makes  the  disability  obvious,  but  please  feel   free  to   let  us  know  if  you  or  someone  you  are  with  qualifies   for   free  rides.       (We  usually  won't  ask   if  people  are  over  55,   for  the  senior  discount.  If  you  qualify,  please   let  us  know.)
