The caged acorn is a design adaptation that sprung from the original and
successful acorn shape created in the early 20th century. Meant to provide a sense
of strength and security the cage can take many forms from substantial legs that
appear to hold up a cast roof element to slight vertical members that support a
decorative ring casting. A decorative cage is also a cost effective way to dress up
a standard acorn. Personalize it to your project by adding a logo or similar design
element. When paired with 21st century technology like high impact acrylic and
polycarbonate globes and LED light engines traditional designs take on relevance
for today’s demanding street and area lighting environments.

LED
The lumi-naire has LED light sources and roof mounted, down-light-ing optics.
HID
HID roof mounted optics offer cutoff performance and efficiency. HPS and Metal Halide light sources are controlled and optimized through the use of highly efficient hydro-formed reflectors made of polished AlzakTM and chemically brightened for the ultimate in HID performance.
Alzak Disk
An optional 7” diameter optical shield helps direct light downward. It is made of specular reflective aluminum and mounted di-rectly above lamp.
Reflector (RSC)
The prismatic acorn globe can be specified with an optional reflector (RSC) which will provide a semi cut-off light distribu-tion. Reflector will provide reduced up-light and im-proved downward efficiency.
COR
Cut Off Reflector (COR) – NIGHTSKY® optics distribution shall be delivered by a multi-segmented reflector system which eliminates up light and provides cut off. The reflector cavity shall be made of specular anodized aluminum.
Refractors (RE)
6” diameter borosili-cate glass with an I.E.S. Type 3 or 5 distribution. Secured to the socket stem with 3/8” plated steel threaded pipe nipple, it rests on a cast aluminum holder with anti-shock gasket. The refractor is secured to cast holder with a quarter-turn internal aluminum twist ring for easy maintenance.
NIGHTSKY® OPTI-SHIELD® Louver Optic System (LO)
A multi-tier reflector with 7” diameter rings produces I.E.S. HID cut - off Type 3 or 5 distributions. Made of highly specular anodized aluminum. The louver optic comes standard with medium base socket.

Luminaire fitters are designed as transition pieces between luminaire’s globe’s or the pole or arm on which it is mounted. Being a utility device does not always mean a plain or unattractive appearance. Sternberg Lighting has created an extensive offering of pole top fitters that are beautiful and durable. Made of heavy cast aluminum, Sternberg fitters hold luminaires securely to pole top tenons by multi-point mechanical attachment or can be welded to ensure straight and level luminaire alignment to the pole and for increased durability. Furthermore, Sternberg fitters house most of the electrical drive gear needed to power our advanced LED light engines. They provide a safe and sealed chamber against weather and intrusion of dirt so that internal components last longer and function better during product service life.
