Calculators are a useful tool for a wide array of people. They help students to businessmen do all kinds of calculations. Over the years, they have developed to become more and more advanced.

The abacus originated in China

Was used to do simple calculations

• Developed in late 1800s

• Had the ability to add and do direct multiplication

• Invented in the mid 1900s

• Portable size

• Battery operated

• Used a chip

• This made small calculators possible

• Basic calculator able to do simple calculations

• Could add, subtract, multiply, and divide

• Smaller and more portable

• Calculator that could keep records of what was done

• Had more functions than the previous models

• Good for accountants and people who work with numbers

• Got smaller and skinnier

• Had more abilities

• Able to do trigonometric functions

• Useful to a student in school

• Similar to older version

• Made larger screen

• Added ability to show graphs and tables

• Common calculators used in high schools

• Made simpler calculators that would appeal to younger kids

• More portable and better looking

• Some were bendable and clear

• Made more advanced calculators accessible on phones

• Just needed to buy the app

• Saved money

• No more need to carry a calculator

Future

In the future I believe calculators will no longer be needed. As a child, a small chip will be put in our brain that allows us to do calculations in our head.
