    Ian now has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Chicago. He worked with Don inThe Math Program, from second grade until the summer of 1989, about 12 years. The lastthree summers he asked if he could help teach others with Don, which was great! Ian wasdoing derivatives at age 11 and invented, among other things, a way to get any number inPascal's triangle at age 12; Newton did a similar thing at age 19 (see ch. 9, as well as 3, 11and 14). Ian also helped edit this book.
