The 19th Annual AIAI Elders Gathering hosted by Caldwell First Nation was agreat success! We had 168 elders registered from the 8 Member Nations. Thedress up competition on Day 2 had the likes of Cher, Stompin' Tom Conners,Elvis Presley, Susan Aglukark, Buffy St.Marie, The Blues Brothers, and more!
Special thanks to Caldwell First Nation Chief and Council, Administration Staff,and of course to our Elders for making this event so memorable.
Thank you to our Fire Keepers, Eric Peters, John Snellgrove, and AndrewJolicoeur for their commitment to the Elders and for keeping the Ceremonial Fireburning for the duration of the event. Our Fire Keepers truly helped us to Honourour Elders!
AIMING FOR SKILLS DAYThe first youth "Aiming for Skills Day" was a great success. Fourteen youth werein attendance and were given the opportunity to work on their archery and 22 rifleskills. A big thank you to Kent Cloverleaf Conservation Club members formentoring our youth on these skills. Here are some snapshots of the youth beingmentored.

In April of 2018, Council approved a new programdesigned to promote youth participation inactivities.
This program is for children and youth (up to 18years of age). It is the goal of Caldwell First Nation toprovide adequate funding so that each Nationmember, who is in full-time attendance at anelementary or secondary school and in goodstanding with the school, has an opportunity toparticipate in whatever activity they so choose.
Caldwell First Nation is able to provide up to amaximum of $500 per fiscal year (April 1 to March31) for children or youth activities and the balance must come from the child/youthand/or his/her parent(s)/guardian(s). Such activities should offer equalopportunities for children and youth, specifically related to:
• Child/Youth athletic teams• Associations or clubs that organize and run children or youth activities• Local school sports teams• Child/Youth Aboriginal Sporting Organizations• Art or music lessons• Special academic groups (i.e. chess club)

Training Provided
Caldwell is currently looking for Archaeological Field Technicians (Monitors) to support futureneeds of projects located throughout our territory. This is a project-term, field-based positionwith travel reimbursement. Archaeological Field Techs will assist with or conduct archaeologicalfield surveys. These positions may be revolving and may be on-going and are filled on an as-needed basis for specific projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Digging shovel tests and screening soil.Maintaining field notes.Compliance with Caldwell and Project guidelines.Performing other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED:Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week when needed.Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.

Lunch & Learnwith Point Pelee National Park
Caldwell First Nation and Point Pelee National Park have begun a new seriescalled "Lunch & Learn" and each month will be alternating facilitating one-houreducational sessions open to members, staff, and anyone interested in learningabout various topics. Light lunch will be provided at no charge. Sessions run from12:00pm - 1:00pm. We have scheduled these sessions until the end of the year(no December session).
