Sharon L Beck Gil leyLearn How t o Deal Wit h St ress ? This is an important work/ life balance tip. Everyone is going to have a different approach to dealing with their personal stressors, so work out the best coping strategies for you. That could be taking a proper lunch break, going for a walk, exercising, craft, spending time with pets, whatever. When you know what your go-to destressing activities are you can plan to do them whenever the work part of your work/ life feels a bit out of kilter.

The DAR Schools Committee and the Community Classroom Committee are ready to roll!! Every monthly Chapter meeting we will be collecting, 1) School supplies for the PACE girls and 2) Box Tops for the DAR schools.
At our October meeting we will have a " BIG SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION" and a "50 -50 Voices", to raise money for any unexpected school needs we may encounter.
We want to encourage each of you to consider volunteering at a local school. It is simple to do, and it is helpful to the children, the schools, the County and the Chapter, and it will make DAR visible in the community. All school volunteering is greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to seeing everyone in September and Thank You for your continuing support!

Continental Congress is one of the most exciting events on the DAR calendar. This summer I had the pleasure of attending for the second time. One of my favorite sessions this year was Service to America Night on Friday. The evening had a women?s suffrage theme that included ?The Revolutionary Warblers?, two pages in suffragette costume who sang popular songs from the suffrage time period. Carol Berkin, a historian who spoke on American women during the Colonial period. Dr. Marcella Micucci from the Museum of the American Revolution who gave a fascinating look at their upcoming exhibit Revolutionary Women which examines the women's rights movements of the 1790's when women legally voted in the State of New Jersey. It was fascinating from start to finish! We finished off the night by donning hats and sashes to pose for a Votes for Women picture.
Saturday night was National Defense Night and it was awesome! The evening always starts off with the procession of National Officers culminating with the American Flag unfurling from the ceiling as the President General comes down the aisle. This is something that every Daughter should see at least once. It is magnificent! The keynote speaker was Lt. Gen. Nadja Y. West, Surgeon General of the United States Army Medical Command. She is a West Point graduate and the first African American female Major General of the Army. Her speech was truly inspiring. In addition to Lt. Gen West, there were several other guests who were the recipients of various awards. The highlight of these was, of course, Shari Duval, the founder of K9?s for Warriors, who received the DAR Medal of Honor.
Videos of much of Continental Congress are archived on the National website at https://www.dar.org/members/announcements/128th-congress-
sessions-videos-now-available-online for anyone interested in watching. I hope that many of you will make plans to attend next year- you?ll be so glad you did!
