Dear Parents We wish our Cross Country team well for the Interschool event this Thursday. Selected students from Years 3-6 will be involved. We also thank our Year 5 Academic All Star students who competed last week and our Yr 6 Philosothon students who were selected to go to the Art gallery last Friday. There is further information on these events overleaf. Last Friday at Student Assembly we were treated to a very entertaining version of the Parable of the Prodigal Son by the Year 3 class. It was a humorous, rhyming couplet script that involved all children in one way or another in the process. I doubt the class will ever forget the story due to this enactment. The photo below encapsulate some of the joy of the occasion. Today we have some sad news to impart: we are saddened to tell you that one of our parents passed away last night. Ben Kelley, the father of Izabelle in Year 3, and Hannah in Pre Primary, died suddenly in Africa after arriving for his rostered FIFO stint. We extend our sympathy to Bens wife, Alana, his mum, Annie and to Izabelle and Hannah. Ben was here at school just last Friday watching Izzies assembly item and was in the Yr 3 class last week to hear Izzie present her mining project and also spoke to the students about mining himself. Academic All Stars - 7 June Ben Flaherty, Isaac Cohen, Michael Woo, Cooper Howard, Imogen Sartorello, Jessica Kenny, William Thomas and Abbey Woolley spent the day at St Thomas in Claremont. It was like interschool sport but we were involved in different learning areas. We were split up into different learning groups and had to make, create, answer questions and draw images depending on the topic. We also had to be involved in performing a commercial. It was great fun. Our school won the Poetry Section and came third in the maths and drama. We had a great day meeting people from different schools and being involved in many challenges.

Philosophy Day - Yr 6 Last Friday six students, Scarlett Kelly, Tom Sweeney, Ben Curran, Bethany Avins, Meg Fitzpatrick and Conor Penery, attended the Philosophy Day at the Art Gallery. The day was all about analysing art and expressing the things that the artist was feeling when the piece was being done. We especially enjoyed the last session where we got to discuss sneakers and how they have changed over the years. The hot chocolate was pretty

good too.

We enjoyed meeting new people from different schools and working with them. We had a great day.
