The Christmas crib was invented by San Francesco in the 12th century. It consists of the hut, where there is the Child Jesus with his mother

(the Virgin Maria), St. Joseph, the ox and the donkey. Outside there are the shepherds. In Italy we usually prepare the crib at Christmas time.
