• 1 part nitrogen (82% by weight) to 3 parts hydrogen (18% by weight).• Is a gas unless cooled to minus 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-33.3 degrees Celsius) or is sufficiently compressed.• Approximately 840 parts vapour must be compressed to equal 1 part liquid at atmospheric condions. At 100 psi, liquid to vapour rao is approximately 1:200.• Exposure to liquid or high concentraons of vapour can cause severe burns.• Excessive inhalaon may cause severe damage to the lungs or suffocaon.• Classified by the Department of Transportaon as a non-flammable compressed gas because ignion condions are extremely difficult to achieve under normal agricultural operang condions.• Its strong pungent odour will discourage a person from voluntarily remaining in a concentraon which could be injurious.• The agent for controlling ammonia emergencies and the first aid treatment for exposure are the same: WATER and lots of it quickly!• NH3 gas is lighter than air and dissolves in water.• Is typically stored & transported as a liquid under pressure.

A properly designed feed line will minimie vapour formaon by limingline restricons and prevenng vapour pocket formaons. ince NH3 willhave a tendency to vaporie, the intake piping plays a crical role in theefficiency and longevity of every system. The following is a list ofconsideraons to ensure you have opmal ow rates

• Inlet piping from tank to the metering system should be as short as possible.• Meter should be at a lower level than the tank’s lowest liquid level.• se low restricon type valves and ngs. ong sweep radius bends are preferred.• Nearest ng or strainer should be at least 10 pipe diameters from the pump inlet.• Check and clean inlet strainers regularly.• Avoid up-across and down pipe loops where vapors can accumulate.

These rugged pumps are ideal for bulk plant service, mulple cylinder filling applicaons, vapourizers, bobtails andtransports. Single or double-ended drive sha models are offered in 2, 3 and 4-inch port sizes with capacies rangingfrom 30 to 300 U.S. gpm (114-1,135 lpm). The LGLD2 and LGLD3 models have long been popular for bobtail servicebecause of their double-ended drive sha arrangement, which allows the pump to be easily posioned for clockwise or counter-clockwise sha rotaon. All models have an internal safety relief valve, and a replaceable casing liner andend discs for easy rebuilding of the pumping chamber if ever necessary. Standard construcon materials includeBuna-N mechanical seals and Duravanes for handling both LP-gas and anhydrous ammonia. Maximum differenal pressure for the 2 and 3-inch models is 150 psi (1,034 kPa), and 125 psi (862 kPa) for the 4-inch models. Ports areoffered with NPT tapped companion flanges or weld flanges.

pumps

Blackmer TLGLF3 and TLGLF4 pumps are designed to flange mount directly to a commercial internal control valve, in combinaon with the tank of a bobtail or transport. Direct mounng eliminates the need for inlet pipes, shut-off valve and external strainer which can restrict flow and cause vapourizaon problems. The result is smootheroperaon and longer pump life. Both models are equipped with a double-ended drive sha for clockwise or counter-clockwise rotaon by simply changing posion of the pump. Each model also has an auxiliary intake port which canbe used for emergency unloading of another tank or transport. In addion, these pumps have an internal safetyrelief valve, and a replaceable casing liner and end discs for easy rebuilding of the pumping chamber if ever necessary.Standard construcon materials for both models include Buna-N mechanical seals and Duravanes for handling both LP-gas and anhydrous ammonia. The TLGLF3 is widely used on bobtails because of its compact mounng arrange-ment, with a 3-inch ANSI intake flange and 2-inch auxiliary intake and discharge ports. Capacies range from 60 to110 U.S. gpm (227 to 416 lpm). The TLGLF4 offers maximum output rates, and fast turnaround me for transports. It is designed with 4-inch ANSI intake flange, a 3-inch auxiliary intake port, and twin 2-inch discharge ports whichpermit the use of two hoses, if necessary, to reduce pressure loss when unloading into restricve receiving systems.

Selection DataPump delivery and brake ho rsepower requi rements are listed in the table below for var ious dier entialpressur es. The same data for all pressures is provided in the performance curves below.

Available CompanionFlangesandFlangedElbows

NOTE: Blackmer Characteristic Curves are based on Brake Horsepower (BHp). To determine Motor Horsepower, drive trainineiciencies must be addedto the BHp.These curves are based on approximate delivery rates whenhandlingpropane or anhydrous ammoniaat 80ºF(26.7ºC).Linerestrictions such as excess ow valves, elbows, etc., will adversely eect deliveries. For propane at 32ºF(0ºC), actualdelivery will be further reduced to about 80% of nominal. Delivery of butane at 80ºF(26.7ºC)will be 60 to 70%of these values,

1 Check thepump’sdelivery andbrake horsepowerrequirementsin theperformancecurves below. See footnotewith thecurves which explains the factors thatcan cause delivery to vary.2 Maximumratedworkingpressure is 350psi (24.13Bar) for LPG andNH3 (limitedbyU.L. andN.F.P.A. 58).Note: Refer toback cover for external bypass valve information.

pumps, compressors & motorsbypass valves

Blackmer differenal bypass valves are designed to protect pumps and system components from excessive pressure damage. Blackmer offers five different models that provide full-flow pressure control to 250 U.S. gpm (946 lpm) at120 psid (827 kPa). Installaon is easy with NPT tapped ports in sizes from 3⁄4” to 2”. All models are suitable for bothLP gas and anhydrous ammonia service.

In operaon, Blackmer valves provide exceponally close pressure control, even under widely varying bypass flow condions. Blackmer bypass valves have no small, easily plugged, sensing passages; and with only two moving parts, their operaon is simple and reliable. They open precisely at the preset spring pressure, and they close smoothly and quietly, thanks to a patented dash-pot design. A small chamber in the valve stem fills with liquid when the valveopens. This liquid then provides a hydraulic cushion prevenng the valve from slamming shut if pressure is suddenly released. It also minimizes chaer and valve seat wear when pressures hover around the crucial limit.

Blackmer oil-free gas compressors deliver high efficiency in handling propane, butane, anhydrous ammonia andother liquefied gases. At about half the capacity of the Blackmer LB161, the LB081 is well suited to small plants orvessels. Equipped with high efficiency valves, steel pistons, self-adjusng piston rod seals and other robust features, these compressors are designed to provide maximum performance and reliability under the most severe service condions and offer the best combined characteriscs of sustained high level performance, energy efficiency, trouble-free operaon and low maintenance cost.

High efficiency valves that move more gas volume, the heart of any compressor is its valve assembly and Blackmervalves are specifically designed for non-lubricated gas applicaons. With precisely engineered clearances, springtension, and a special finish, these valves seat more posively so more gas is moved with each piston stroke.

Blackmer valves offer greater strength, quiet operaon, and long life.

Compressor Selection Data: Propane and Anhydrous Ammonia

We reserve the right, where a genuine doubt exists as to your financial position or if you are in default of any payment obligation, to suspend delivery or performance of any agreement or any part thereof without liability and without prejudice to, and without limita-tion of, any other remedy available to us until you cure the default or satisfactory security for payment has been provided. We will have the option to extend the delivery date by a time at least equal to the period of such suspension.

Damage/Shortage ClaimsAll goods are carefully packed and inspected prior to shipping. We will attempt to pack or prepare all shipments so that they will not break, rust or deterio-rate in shipment, but we do not guarantee against such damage. Check all goods immediately upon receipt. If goods are damaged in transit or shortages appear, it is your responsibility to file a claim with the delivery carrier. We accept no responsibility for any damage, shortage or loss in transit. We will retain a security interest in the goods until the purchase price has been paid, and you agree to perform upon request all acts required to secure our interest. Please note all damages and shortages on the freight bill before signing. All shortages must be reported within 24 hours after receipt of shipment or claim will be denied.

In the event you are unable to accept delivery of goods when tendered, we may, at our option, arrange for storage of the goods at your sole risk and you will be liable to us for the reasonable cost of such storage. This provision is without prejudice to any other rights which we may have with respect to your failure to take delivery of goods, which includes the right to invoice you for the goods. You agree that title to the stored goods will transfer to you upon invoicing notwithstanding your inability to accept delivery and that you assume all risk of loss or damage to the goods from the date title passes to you.
