CREATING A HOME

Our ‘Cultural Framework project’ engaged a number ofstakeholders in the last half of 2019 and we look forward to bringingour values to life and embedding them into our sport, for a strong, healthy culture that more Australians want to connect with.

As you would be aware, we have to find a ‘new home’ for calisthenicsin Victoria, with the entire site at Oakleigh needing extensive works. The findings of the ‘Building Study’ conducted in 2019 will help toguide our next steps in this process as we look to secure a homethat meets the growing and varied needs of our sport.

We know that we are better and stronger when we work together.Partnering with our very own Kristen Skinner and her business,Sponsorship Matters, Cali Vic is looking to grow our support networkthrough well managed sponsorships and partnerships. If you have aconnection to a business who you believe would benefit fromworking with us, please contact:

When we speak with our community members, one of the mostcommon and shared views about our sport is that it creates a sense of‘home’. Here are some of our projects that we are working on to buildon that for everyone:

My pathway:

Our Sports Development Officer, Lucinda Williams, is focused on ensuring that our sport, and our people, have a clear pathway to guide development opportunities and to help those who are new to the sport betterunderstand what is available to them. High Performance:

Our Victorian State Team is well underway with camp now completed and teams preparing for their big trip toDarwin in July. Our team is ably lead again this year by Leigh Szabo and we thank Leigh and all of ourvolunteers for their unwavering support to our State Team members. Listening and Learning from you:

Upholding our values of community and connection we conducted a range of community feedbackopportunities in November and December. On a large scale we met with clubs and coaches at the respectiveforums, and on a more intimate level we met with clubs and coaches at our various Divisional ConsultationGroup meetings. The information provided by our community in these sessions has been used to guide thedecision making of the organisation for the 2020 competition season.

SUPPORTING OUR PEOPLE

INCREASING PARTICIPATION

Recruitment Campaign:

After a fabulous and fun day of filming last year with cali performers of allages and abilities, we have developed a series of recruitment videos for useby clubs on social media through January to March. The first three videos have been released and the organic reach has beenexcellent. You are calisthenics’ greatest ambassadors, so please continueto share the videos, as we embark on a paid digital campaign throughoutFebruary. New products, more people:

Following the creation of our standalone product, Cali Champ, 2020 will seeus focus on ways to build on this product, support the traditional spacewithin our sport as well as create new products to attract more people. December saw the conclusion of our ‘Participation Growth Strategy project’with the findings of the project set to guide the development and testing ofnew products aimed at introducing more people to calisthenics in 2020 andbeyond. Detailed information will be shared over the coming months, but this is anexciting and new way to look at increasing participation in our sport thattakes in the best of what’s working for other sports and combines it withthe best parts of calisthenics.

There are a number of initiatives taking place throughout 2020 to continue to improve the experience at allevents throughout the year. Some of the early ones to share include:
