Beauty in DentistryAAAA WWWWEEEEEEEEKKKKEEEENNNNDDDD OOOOFFFF ESTHETIC DENTISTRY

Featuring three outstanding speakers:

Dr. Steve MarquardtSaturday, January 12, 2008 (8:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m.)

This course will enable the participants to use the latest research technology to recognize and understand the “idealized or paradigmatic” form of the human face, referred to as the “Archetypal Facial Type.” They will learn to determine a dental patient’s own facial form correlation with the “Archetypal Facial Type” at smile. They will also learn how to deter-mine the “idealized” aesthetic size and shape of the anterior maxillary anterior teeth for an individual patient.

Dr. Hessam NowzariSaturday, January 12, 2008 (1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.)

Two distinguishing parts are brought forward in this presentation. An analysis of beauty in dentistry with a multi-disciplinary approach to concepts that demonstrate clinical procedures designed to define beauty and track the relevance of risk analysis and aesthetic therapy. Reliable techniques to restore and enhance bone and soft tissues are presented. Secondly, multiple edentulous sites in the maxillary anterior are presented as the aesthetic outcome of adjacent implants, which present major challenges.

Dr. Ed McLarenSunday, January 13, 2008 (8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.)

The presentation will cover the current research about the efficacy and clinical success of new esthetic restorative materials from simple treatments such as bleaching to more involved fixed partial denture situations. Specifically, clinical indications for these various materials will be given based on research and clinical evidence from ongoing clinical trials. Attention will be given to preparation requirements, tissue management, impressions, provisionali-zation, shade matching and cementation using several clinical examples.

Root canal therapy requires a high level of technical skill. However without a clear understanding ofthe biological requirements for successful treatment these skills may be “wasted” on techniques thatare unnecessarily difficult. A correct diagnosis and the blending of new materials and techniques inorder to achieve an environment that will ensure a healthy apical periodontium will result in anextremely high probability of success.

This course will cover endodontic diagnosis, biologic principles for successful treatment and simplesafe and scientifically proven techniques for treatment.

The pros and cons of rotary Nickel Titanium files will be discussed and a new thermoplastic bond-able resin filling material to replace gutta-percha will be introduced.

Know the biologic requirements for endodontic success. Differentiate between a vital and non-vitaltooth in terms of meeting these requirements. Know to what extent the newest technologies inendodontics assist in attaining these biologic goals.
