SUDDENLY! Act 2:1-47 reveals:

The 120 disciples of Jesus had gathered in the Upper Room to pray. Suddenly, on the tenth day, there was a blowing of a rushing mighty wind and a sound from heaven that filled the room. In a moment, the 120 disciples of Jesus were transformed as the PRESENCE of the Lord sat on each of them with what appeared to be cloven tongues, like as of fire. With one visitation of the Holy Ghost, the church was awakened, a revival was sparked and God was glorified. Revival fire soon spilt over into the streets and communities like hot molten lava as the 120 ignited a Pentecostal fire everywhere they went. They shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ, “…for they did speak the wonderful works of Jesus”. In that moment, the followers of Jesus touched much of the world.

These, the same disciples who just 50 days prior were hiding for fear, now stood with bold resolve, and Peter at center stage, proclaimed “JESUS IS LORD!”, not far from the place where Jesus had been badly beaten and crucified. So powerful was this visitation that the hearts of devout men were pricked. So pricked were their hearts that they asked Peter and the other Apostles, “Men and brethren what must we do?” as their hearts were driven to repentance.

In one divine moment, entire communities were changed by the power of the Holy Ghost Awakening. People fell in love with the Word of God. Audible praise flowed from their hearts and they commended God for His greatness! The people had daily fellowship, social intimacy and cared one for the other. There was a spirit of One Accord, one heart! They had favor and grace (the supernatural influence on their lives) with God and the people of their communities. They had a new found ability to serve. The community was affected and lives were being changed. And… the Lord added to the church, daily such as should be saved.

This was that which was promised by Joel. This was the outpouring of the Spirit, the later rain, the fire, the fullness of God that restores backsliders, and saturates afresh the parched and thirsty soul. This was Pentecost!

I pray, “Lord do it again!” I believe He will do it again. (cont’d on page 2)

May 23, 2010 is Pentecost Sunday and Global Day of Prayer. Christians in more than 200 countries will assemble to pray prayers of blessing on their cities, counties, state, nations and regions. They will be asking God for the renewing, refreshing, reviving, empowering, life transforming, coming of the Holy Ghost as He came in Acts 2. And I am inviting all of Church of God of Prophecy California International to take part in this 2010 Global Day Of Prayer. I have sent information, prayer guides and instructions to your pastor. However, if you desire, you can go on line to www.waymakers.org there you will find resources for leading our children, youth and adults in this special season of prayer and celebration.

The Global Day of Prayer will launch prayer activities on May 13, 2010, on Ascension Day, and will end on May 23, 2010.

The Church Of God Of Prophecy California International’s vision is to have “Healthy Churches.” Our Mission is to, “Equipping Leaders To Equip People For Life.”

We give glory to God for the opportunity to have experienced a School of Practical and Advance Studies, as we believe that the school has helped us to take vital steps in becoming the healthy churches that God has called us to be here in California. One the areas that has effected our health has been our identity or felt lack there of. The S.O.P.A.S. spoke very candidly to our historical DNA and provided a theological perspective to our foundation and a sense of purpose and direction for the Church of God of Prophecy.

Ten students participated in the SOPAS California International survey; all expressed gratitude for the courageous instruction provided. All felt that our minds were stretched; we were challenged to think and discern. And felt helped and equipped to be a better ministers and or pastors. The overwhelming consensus of those attending was that this was an effort well over due. One student describes the S.O.P.A.S. as “enlightening”, and went on to say, “this was awesome, the instructors spoke under the anointing with great understanding that came from God and was transmitted to us.” “I am so proud of our heritage.” My goal is to transmit what God has given to me, to his people.”

Another student said, “This has been an enriching experience in every sense.” “I now can understand the foundations of our church and history; it’s amazing.” “I look forward to having the Gordon Conwell Consortium come to California in the future.”

And yet another student said, “thank you for being Honest.” Finally a student said,” We are finally becoming an equipping church.” The general sentiment is that the S.O.P.A.S was excellent and that such courses should be required for pastors and leaders and should be provided more frequently. We all left Patten University full of hope for the future and ready to take our place in the Kingdom of God.
