1History Californium is a synthetic element meaning that it is not found in nature but made by humans. It was first made in 1950 in Berkeley, California at the University of California which is where the name came from. It was discovered by four physic scientists: Stanley G. Thompson, Kenneth Street, Jr., Albert Ghiorso, and Glenn T. Seaborg. It is an actinide and is the sixth transuranium element to be discovered, meaning that it weighs heavier than uranium.

2About Californium Californium has an atomic number of 98Has an atomic mass of 251Solid at room temperature Has a melting point of 900 Celsius and a boiling point of about 1470 CelsiusIt is a actinide and is in period 7 on the periodic tableHas a silver color

3UsesCalifornium is a strong neutron emitter, therefore it is used for things such as metal detectors and used in airplanes to detect metal fatigue. It also is used in military as it is highly radioactive and highly toxic. Otherwise there isn't much uses for Californium.

4Conclusion Californium is a element that is highly radioactive and toxic, though it may not have as much uses as some of the other elements it is still an interesting element.
