The openers gave a decent start collecting 27 runs from 3.5 overs. Raja picked the first wicket as Joginder Sehgal was caught behind on the individual score of 11 runs. Rahul Tamra & Danish Irshad added 19 runs for the 2 nd wkt but Mohit Kaushal on 46 runs took the wkt of Danish & later on the total 50 runs he struck again to remove Rahul Tamra for 21 runs. Manmohan Gosain 26 & Arijit Mukherjee 16 runs negotiated the fine bowling attack of opponents and attacked only bad deliveries to share partnership of 42 runs for the 4 th wkt. Introduction of Rohit Chaudhary paid off immediately as he picked 2 quick wickets to see the back of both the settled batsmen and created an opportunity to restrict opponents from scoring huge total. S. Kartikeyan 46 N/O runs off 37 deliveries & Parveer Kumar 16 N/O runs provided big relief as they collected 72 runs from remaining 9 overs. The running between the stumps was superb, especially S. Kartikeyan ran the first quickly to convert single into double while running towards dangerous end. In all this pair gathered 42 runs by working the ball in gaps and finally helped their side to put on defendable target of 169 runs from 25 overs. In reply, Agilent lost the first wkt quickly on 12 runs but Man Gobind & Mohit Kaushal recovered from early loss by sharing partnership of 29 for the 2 nd wicket and pushed the score to 41 runs. Manoj Rana in his very first over took 2 wkts to cause problems for opponents as 3 rd wkt fell with just one run more to the total. Rohit Chaudhary new to the crease attacked the bowlers from the very beginning to collect 13 runs from first 10 deliveries he faced. The two good partnership of 42 & 29 runs for 4 th & 5 th wicket wherein most the run came from his blade due to fine timing & perfect placement. Rohit scored 44 runs off just 30 deliveries to lift the run rate & helped his side to put on 113 runs in 17.4 overs. Rohit reached 80 run but found no support from his partners as score reached 155 runs in 22.5 overs. Joginder Sehgal made good move to bring Prityush their strike bowler who picked the prize wkt of Rohit Chaudhary. In the last over 9 runs were required and they collected 6 runs from first 3 deliveries. 4 th ball was a maiden delivery & on 5 th ball Manmohan had Sunil Ashwani stumped while attempting to clear the fence. Now Agilent required 3 runs from the last delivery with last pair out in the middle. Varun on the last ball of the match played a confident looking shot for a boundary to win this cliffhanger & created an upset by defeating the last year’s runner-up team. Hewitt Vs FCS Software

FCS Software on winning the toss invited the opponents to bat first on the AAI ground. Hewitt lost their opener Abhay Lal for just 5 runs on the board. Kanwal Deep 25 & Kunal Puri 10 runs consolidated the innings sharing partnership of 36 runs. Another 33 runs came from the 3rd wkt partnership as Kanwal Deep reached to individual total of 46 and put 74 runs from 9.4 overs on the board. Amit Khajuria who picked the wkt of kanwal Deep & Parminder Singh succeeded in trapping Soumay lBW and in the same over bowled Rohit on 7 runs to pick his 4th wkt and restricted the flow of runs. Navneet 18 & Prashant 14 runs on finding it difficult to score through boundaries and shared a very valuable partnership of 43 runs for the 7th wkt to post 152 runs in 22.5 overs. The last three batsmen failed to score a single run as Rajeev Trehan & Rahul Singh took 1 & 2 wkts respectively to restrict the opponents to 153 runs in 23.4 overs. FCS software lost their 2 wkts for 27 runs as Navneet bowled Salim Javed & Amit Khajuria. Harjeet Singh was next to be dismissed as Kunal Puri struck at the team score of 40 runs to claim the 3rd wicket. Rajeev Trehan & Rahul Singh shared a partnership of 56 runs for 4th wkt and took the score to 96 runs. Brajesh Sharma managed to break this partnership when Soumya caught Rajeev brilliantly. This changed the complete complexion of the match as wickets started falling at frequent intervals. The five batsmen to follow contributed just 11 runs and they lost 9 wkts for 138 runs. The fine efforts of Rahul Singh 46 runs N/O and Animesh 11 runs N/O kept the hopes alive for FCS Software. The result was achieved in the last over of the match, as score were level on the 2nd delivery while 3rd delivery was a dot ball but Animesh on 4th delivery took 2 runs to win the match by 1 wicket. Brajesh Sharma bowled brilliantly to end up with very impressive figures. The Man of the Match was awarded to Rahul Singh for his brilliant batting performance.

EXL Service Vs TCS

EXL Service on winning the toss elected to bat first on the Mount St. Mary’s School ground. They got off to a bad start as Arun Yadav ran out Ashwani Kumar on the very first ball of the match and then he dismissed Kapil Mehra for just 9 runs at the team total of 21 runs. Franklin played a captains knock of 53 runs off 53 deliveries while wkts were falling at other end. Franklyn found an able partner when Anurag joined him and they shared a valuable partnership of 56 runs for the 5th wkt to help their side put 78 runs on board in 14.3 overs. Anurag Bahl (26 runs) played very sensibly as he rotated the strike often & on finding the bad delivery hammered them for 2 huge sixes. TCS bowlers kept the game well under control till the 20th over but conceded 51 runs in last 5 overs and allowed their opponents to post a defending total of 148 runs in 25 overs. Arun Yadav was the most successful bowler to claim 3 wkts while Ankit & Amit shared 2 wkts each. In reply the openers provided a decent start collecting 16 runs from 4.2 overs. Ashwani Kumar got the first break through & on the same score took another wicket as Anuj was trapped LBW for no score. In the middle order Amit Jain 12 & Arun Yadav 14 runs tried to make a come back but due to fine spell by Bulbul (2 wkts) & Franklin (3 wkts) team of TCS was bowled out for 103 runs in 20.2 overs. EXL Service won the match by 46 runs and also managed to save the bonus point. The Man of Match was awarded to Franklin Andrews for his all round performance and leading his team from front.

Colt Technologies Vs IBM-Daksh

Colt Technologies on winning the toss elected to bat first on the Mount St. Mary’s School ground. The start was not to their expectation as they lost 4 wkts for 23 runs in 3.1 overs. Amit Devgon who picked all 4 wkts that fell during the innings did all the damage. Alex George was the only batsmen to show some resistance & scored 18 runs to take the team total to 38 runs. Ramesh Mahadevan 27 & Sukesh Singh 33 runs managed to provide some stability as they shared partnership of 53 runs for the 6th wkt and took the score to 91 runs from 12.5 overs. Chandan Singh bowled Ramesh to restrict the flow of runs as he was middling ball well & scoring freely while Charanjeet Bedi trapped Sukesh Singh LBW. Tejinder Bedi scored 11 runs in the end to help his side get past three figure mark. Amit Devgon bowled Tejinder to pick his 5th wkt and finish with very economical & impressive figures. In reply Daksh lost their opener Mayur Bora on the very first ball of the match as Krishan Singh found the edge for wicket keeper to do the rest. Pradeep Deswal 18 & Chandan Singh 28 hammered the bowlers, especially Chandan Singh hitting 3 boundaries & 2 sixes took the score to 46 runs from 7.2 overs. Colt Technologies came back strongly as Krishan Singh dismissed Chandan & later on the score of 64 runs picked another 2 wkts to create pressure on the batsmen to follow and took his individual tally to 4 wkts. Sujeet Singh bowled exceptionally well to pick 2 wkts. Score of IBM-Daksh was 103 for 7 wkts at the end of 19 overs when Deepak Pandit bowled the 20th over. IBM-Daksh required 2 runs to win the match with bonus point but Deepak picked 2 wkts without conceding a run to save bonus point for his team. Pardeep Deswal played mostly on the merits & showed the full face of the bat to hit few neatly timed boundaries, held one end to share few good Partnerships & play vital role in the victory for his side. The Man of the Match was awarded to Amit Devgon for his fine bowling performance.

Flextronics Vs Colt Technologies Colt Technologies on winning the toss elected to field on Palam-B ground and their openers collected 29 runs from 4 overs. Vidhur Krishan came in to share partnership of 55 runs for 2nd wkt to post 84 runs from 11.5 overs. Vidhur krishan went after the bowlers as he was connecting the ball well to score 50 runs off 41 balls hitting 6 boundaries & 2 sixes. After completing his half-century he became more aggressive & hammered the bowlers to all parts of ground collecting another 4 boundaries & 4 huge sixes to reach 100 runs off 63 balls. During the excellent knock Vidhur shared two more partnerships of 51 & 48 run, the first partnership was shared with Tarun 16 runs & second with K. Sriram. Tarun & Sriram rotated the strike to provide maximum opportunity for Vidhur to score runs freely & enabling the side to put up huge total of 228 runs in 25 overs. In reply, Colt Technologies lost their two wkts for just 28 runs as Amit Gulia bowled exceptionally well to pick both the wickets. Alex George (21 runs) & Ramesh Mahadevan (14 runs) made some recovery from early damage to collect 30 runs for the 3rd wkt reaching 58 runs from 9.2 overs. Ramesh looked in fine touch as he found gaps easily to score 38 runs and bring in another partnership of 59 runs with Deepak Pandit (34 runs) who hit 4 neatly timed boundaries & ran hard for very possible run to post 117 runs. Tarun Makkar took the prize wkt of Deepak Pandit while Sandeep added more to the problems as he removed Suresh & Tejinder in his second over for no score. Ramesh who held the one end lost his concentration as 3 wkts fell quickly and he gave a simple catch to Vidhur on the bowling of Taun Makkar. Flextronics registered the victory by huge margin of 99 runs and also picked the bonus point. The Man of the Match was awarded to Vidhur Krishan for playing excellent knock and scoring first century of the tournament.

TCS Vs Nokia

Nokia on winning the toss elected to bat first on the Palam-B ground. The first wkt fell quickly on 4 runs as Arun Yadav bowled Nitin Mishra for just 1 run. The second wkt partnership of 18 runs between Ranjit & Alok Singh pushed the score to 22 runs and just when this pair started flourishing Ankit Malhotra trapped Ranjit LBW. Alok Singh (31 runs) & Murthy Sharma (37 runs) took the complete responsibility on their shoulders; showed good understanding as Alok picked most of runs through single rotating the strike while Murthy went after the bowlers to clear the fence on many occasions. This pair collected 74 runs for the 3rd wkt when Murthy Sharma was unfortunate to be run out. Alok Singh on individual total of 41 runs off 57 balls was dismissed by Arun Yadav to see half the side back in pavilion on 123 runs. After this 3 wkts fell without making much contribution as bowlers delivered much better line & length to restrict the opponents to 144 runs in 25 overs. TCS in reply made sound start as their openers Akshay (23 runs) & Punit Bhutan (12 runs) collected 43 runs from 7.1 overs. Both the batsmen worked the ball in gaps to pick runs taking no undue risk made the bowlers to struggle for wicket but the alert fielding & quick return from Murthy Sharma saw Akshay well short of his ground to lose the first wkt. Murthy Sharma provided another blow to opponents as he contributed to the fall of second wkt, trapping Punit Bhutan LBW on 45 runs. Sahil (16 runs) & Abhishek Kaushik (23 runs) did not panic on the fall of 2 quick wkts but played sensibly to add valuable 40 runs partnership for the 3rd wkt & took the score to 85 runs in 16.3 overs. Abhishek went on to score 36 run off 36 balls contributing partnership of 31 runs with Arun yadav. Rajesh picked 2 quick wkts in his last over as he removed dangerous looking Abhishek and on the very next ball trapped Ankit LBW for no score to provide a chance for his side to make a come back. Arun Yadav before getting retried hurt on 31 runs struck 3 boundaries in one over & took the score to 134 runs & nearly ensured victory for his team. TCS reached the target in 24.1 overs to register first victory in the tournament. The Man of the Match was awarded to Arun Yadav for his all round performance and leading the side from front.

Rohit Choudhary went on score 59 runs off 50 balls hitting 9 boundaries & a six, kept the score moving but was run out on the total score of 134 runs as Soumay Dey send in a fine return to see his back. Kishan Baheti (3 wkts), Navneet (2 wkts) & Brajesh Sharma (1 wkt) picked wickets at regular intervals to bowl Agilent Technologies for 156 runs on the last delivery of 25th over. Agilent lost their first wicket for just 13 runs as Raja (super substitute) bowled Abhay Lal for only 5 runs. Microsoft on winning the toss elected to bat first on Harbaksh Stadium. The opening pair collected 24 runs to provide a decent start but soon Microsoft was in deep trouble as opponents claimed 4 quick wickets to see the back of half their side in pavilion for just 48 runs. Abhishek Tripathi did most of the damage by picking 3 wickets. Amit Nevatia did the most the scoring contributed 35 runs for his side. Sherya took the 6th & 7th wkt and reduce their opponents to 85 runs but Naveen Mehlawat (18 runs) & Sumit (12 runs) helped the side to reach three-figure mark & finally posted 110 runs in 25 overs. Vikas Chauhan made good contribution in the end picking 2 wickets in his one over. In reply, Conexant did not get a good start as Ansho Mor (2 wkts) & Sumit (1 wkt) did the early damage to claim 3 wkts for 30 runs. Vertex won the toss and elected to bat on Palam-A ground. The first wkt fell on 19 runs as Avinash Tripathi took a good catch to dismiss Salim for 9 run of Parveen Saugat. A good recovery was made as Virender Sapra (43 runs) & Rodney Charlesb (35 runs) shared a partnership of 74 for the 2nd wicket. Prashant Alhawat 22 & Nakul Sharma 8 runs gathered 24 runs for the 4th wkt to reach 42 runs but Hatinder Saini anticipated a good return catch to see the back of Prashant. Ajay Shokeen bowled Chandan Singh and also contributed in the fall of 7th & 8th wkt. He ran out Hitender Saini from a direct throw & later on 128 runs bowled Deepak for no score. Pradeep Deswal scored 23 N/O & Anil Dhiya 10 runs N/O managed to post 141 runs from 25 overs. In reply, Genpact was in deep trouble as they lost both the openers for just 7 runs on board as Mayur & Chandan picked one wkt each. Arijit (60 runs off 35 balls) unmoved by fall of 2 quick wkts, started his inning in style by hitting a boundary off the very first ball he faced. Arijit played with complete authority and hammered the bowlers to struck 5 boundaries & 5 huge sixes whereas S. Karthick (23 runs) rotated the strike to provided Arijit with maximum strike. The run out of Danish on 128 runs made the situation more interesting since 13 runs were required with just 2 wkts in hand. IBM-Daksh made brave efforts and fought till end to save the match but Manmohan 16 run N/O off 19 balls stood in their way and reached the target in 23.5 overs. Manmohan handled the pressure situation very well to keep his wkt intact as his dismissal could have changed the match result. The Man of the Match was awarded to Arijit Mukherjee for his wonderful batting performance.

GENPACT Vs FCS Software FCS Software on wining the toss invited GENPACT to bat first on Harbaksh Stadium. The first wkt fell on the score of 16 runs but Shahbaz Mobin 28 & Arijit 23 runs added 45 runs for the 2nd wkt maintaining run rate of more than 6 run per over & posted 61 runs from 9.3 overs. Rajeev Trehan trapped Arijit LBW to provide an important breakthrough as he was playing shots at will with superb timings. Shahbaz played very sensibly to score 77 runs off 81 balls while Rahul Dixit (18 runs) supported him by rotating the strike and they both shared partnership of 72 runs for the 3rd wkt to post 133 runs on board. Anirvan Singh claimed the wkt of Shahbaz as Salim Javed took a fine catch at point. Rahul Dixit added 3 more run to his total before being dismissed but provided very useful support to Manmohan who hammered 27 runs off 16 balls hitting 4 boundaries & a six sharing partnership of 33 runs to reach 166 runs after the completion of 26 overs. Rahul Singh picked wkt of Rahul Dixit as Salim finished his 3rd catch of the innings. Rahul Singh got away with another 2 wkts on 178 & 179 runs as Prakhar was out on individual score of 3 & Manmohan on 36 runs. Gaurav Sehgal 14 runs off 6 balls finally helped his side to post decent total of 202 runs in 30 overs. FCS Software in reply lost first wkt on just 7 runs as S. Karthick claimed the wkt of Parakh Kapoor for no score. Rahul Singh 40 & Anirvan Singh 45 runs played exceptionally well as they went after the bowlers during the power play to hit some neatly timed boundaries & scored nearly 6 runs per over. This pair had firm grip on the match as they faced no discomfort & were picking runs easily but unfortunate run out of Rahul Singh as he ran for unnecessary run while ball went straight to Shahbaz. Anirvan Singh was dismissed with just 2 more to his total as Vishal Samuel did the damage. Loss of 2 quick wkts saw complete change of complexion in the match. GENPACT bowlers came back strongly to pick wkts one after another and FCS Software was reduced to 139 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 24.4 overs. Harjeet Singh was the only batsmen to show some resistance by scoring 28 runs off 26 balls & succeeded in narrowing the margin of defeat. In the end FCS Software lost the match by 27 runs and GENPACT the last year runners up emerged as the winner of CallC Cup 2006. The Man of the Match for final went to Rahul Singh in spite of losing the game since he gave all round performance.
