We, the people of God, led and inspired by the Holy Spirit, fed by the Word and the Eucharist, strive to share our faith and live our lives daily as disciples of Christ. CALLED, GIFTED, SENT FORTH 18 th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B) The Scriptures today speak of movement and searching. The people of Israel, Ephesus, Capernaum, New Zealand, have been on a journey, through many cross-roads, some of them with sign-posts pointing the wrong way. Our common destination is The City of God”. We have taken wrong turns at times, listened to blind guides and ended up lost and weary. How can we know the right way and find food for the journey that will nourish? Where is Jesus to be found? On our road of life, there can be wilderness times. Times of aimless wandering. Times when we try to fill our emptiness with what doesnt satisfy. Sometimes we do manage to stay on the Way, taking steps that lead to life. Our hearts are full of questions for God. What must we do? What sign will you give us? What work will you do? But when God answers, are we ready to believe? And God has some questions for us. Will you follow my law or not? Do you believe in the One I have sent? Why are you looking for me? Have you seen the signs? What kind of bread are we looking for? Our Sunday gathering is a precious time to take a pause on the road, rest in the Spirit, and be nourished with the Word of Life and the Bread of Life.
