Why should you care?• Exploding world population– United Nations: “produce 70 percent more food for an

additional 2.3 billion people by 2050.” • Global and state ag powerhouse• 20% of world’s calories come from wheat• One Kansas farmer feeds 129 people.

• Farm Bill 2012– In 2008 Farm Bill, 66% of spending was for domestic

nutrition programs (food stamps, emergency food assistance)
