CALVARY APOSTOLIC CHURCH, UPCI
La Crosse, Wisconsin The Basic fundamental doctrine of this organization shall be the
Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in
water by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for re-
mission of sins, and baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial
sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utter-
ance. We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we
all come into the unity of the faith, at the same time admonishing
all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to
the disunity of the body.

Learning to be Thankful
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
If you were asked to make a list of the top ten things in your
life you are thankful for, what would they be? Would you have
to ponder and wonder about them? Do you know which one of
the ten you would choose to put in first place? Where would
your salvation fit on the list? What about how much Jesus loves
you? Would being alive come in the top ten? What about who
you are? We often have trouble determining which should come
first; but really, we shouldn’t have to decide which is first as we
should always give thanks to God for everything that is taking
place in our lives. When we are grateful for what God has done
and is doing through us and in us, it should cause us to offer
thanks continually. Paul said that in the last days perilous time
would come for men would be unthankful. In other words, they
would not offer thanks for what they have, nor what they are
receiving. There is a danger associated with not being thankful.
Being unthankful leads to lust, envy, jealousy, and
discontentment. Paul tells us in everything give thanks because
it is the will of God. If it is God’s will that we offer thanks, then
we must offer thanks.
The Psalmist said, in Psalms 136: O give thanks unto the Lord;
for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever...
It is because of His mercy that we are not consumed, and that
should cause us to be thankful. Always remember, silent
gratitude isn't much use to anyone.
Pastor Parker
A Few Psalms of Thanksgiving Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Psalm 97:12 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Psalm 105:1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm106:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. Psalm 119:62 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. Psalm 140:13
A 4-year-old boy who was asked to
return thanks before Thanksgiving
dinner. The family members bowed
their heads in expectation. He began
his prayer, thanking God for all his
friends, naming them one by one. Then he thanked God for
Mommy, Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his
aunts and uncles. Then he began to thank God for the food.
He gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing, the fruit salad, the
cranberry sauce, the pies, the cakes, even the Cool Whip. Then
he paused, and everyone waited--and waited. After a long
silence, the young fellow looked up at his mother and asked, "If
I thank God for the broccoli, won't he know that I'm lying?"

Living
Under
Christ’s
Kindness
Why do some people have all the luck? Life just isn’t fair, is it?
We are all inclined to dwell on the problems and difficulties we
face. It is not quite as easy to concentrate on our blessings.
We seem to be pre-wired to worry and fret. An attitude of gratitude
is not our natural default setting. No matter our good intentions,
when the world caves in, we fall back on our tendency to wallow in
despair, discouragement, and defeat. We are inclined to focus on
what others have while ignoring the favor, good fortune, benefits,
gifts, joy, peace, love, family, and friends that surround us.
The greatest gift we can give ourselves is to shift our focus from self
to Him. In His presence is fullness of joy, and the joy of the Lord is
our strength. (See Psalm 16:11 and Nehemiah 8:10) We cannot
afford to live a single day without basking in the Sonlight of His
presence.
When we choose to have a song in our heart and a praise on our lips,
we are lifted above the gloom and despair of the world that is not
our home and catch a glimpse of our final destination. We, who
have received forgiveness for our sins, been baptized in Jesus’
Name, and have been filled with the beautiful gift of the Holy
Ghost, are the ‘lucky’ ones!!
In our society, luck is something that is like the roll of the dice and
up to chance. In God’s kingdom, LUCK is simply “Living Under
Christ’s Kindness’!
Let’s take time this month of Thanksgiving and forget ourselves and
the world around us and love, adore, extol, praise, worship, honor,
glorify, thank, and cherish The One who gave everything so that we
can have abundant life!
HAPPY GIVING~THANKS!!
10 Practices to Train
Yourself to Be Happy
1. Give something away (no strings attached)
2. Do a kindness (and forget it)
3. Spend a few minutes with someone who needs
encouragement (someone who is lonely, or
hurting)
4. Look intently into the face of
a baby (and marvel)
5. Laugh often (it is life’s
lubricant)
6. Give thanks (a thousand times
a day is not too often)
7. Pray (or you will lose your
way)
8. Work (with vim and vigor)
9. Plan as though you will live forever (because
you will)
10. Live as though you’ll die tomorrow (because
some tomorrow you will)
Everyone wants happiness
No one wants pain
But you can’t make a rainbow
Without some rain
With a heart of Thanksgiving, I will bless thee, Oh Lord!

YOU can make the difference through prayer. . .
A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL
5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE
PUTTING IT IN THE BOX :
1.) Everything you do will always leave a mark.
2.) You can always correct the mistakes you make.
3.) What is important is what is inside of you.
4.) In life, you will undergo painful sharpenings, which will
only make you better.
5.) To be the best pencil, you must allow yourself to be held and
guided by the hand that holds you.
We all need to be constantly sharpened. Know that you are a
special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities.
Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to
accomplish. Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think
that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like
the pencil, always remember that the most important part of
who you are is what's inside of you. And then allow yourself to
be held and guided by the hand of God.
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends,
We thank You.

The Whole Gospel
to the Whole World
by the Whole Church
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his
holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his
benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy
diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who
crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who
satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is
renewed like the eagle's.
Psalm:103 1-5
We Gather Together
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen
