duction of 42,241 metric tons in 2016 are from Camarines Sur, making the province as the larg-est producer of chicken in the region. The province’s

chicken production grew

by 80.49 percent from

to 20,570 metric tons in

2016. The 2016 chicken

In 2016, the

farmgate price of back-

yard chicken was over

100.00 pesos per kilo-

tion. It is heartening that

readers learn from the data

that PSA produces and are

actually moved to action.

An interaction be-

tween PSA Camarines

Sur, through its varied sta-

readers and data users on

the other end, creates a

dialogue and fuels action

on both sides.

On the part of the

readers and end-users,

their decisions and actions

would be information-

this newsletter. They in-

quire further and some-

times question their own

previous positions.

CHICKEN EGG

SITUATION

C amarines Sur accounted for 64 percent (8,543 metric

tons) of the region’s total egg production of 13,381 metric tons in 2016, mak-ing the province as the top producer of chicken egg in the Bicol Region. From 2014 to 2016 the production of chicken egg decreased from 12,669 metric tons in 2014 to 8,543 metric tons

in 2016 which may be-explained by the decline in the inventory of layers during the same period. In 2016, the av-erage farmgate price of backyard chicken egg fluctuated from January to December. The price reached a peak of ₽5.96 per piece in August while the lowest price was 4.65 pesos per piece in March.

T he PSA Provincial Office

conducted a Respondent’s

Forum on April 28, 2017 at

The Avenue Plaza Hotel,

Naga City. The activity included data

dissemination of the results of 2014

Annual Survey of Philippine Business

and Industry (ASPBI) and 2014 Sur-

vey of Tourism Establishments in the

Philippines (STEP), and the highlight

was the Lunching of the 2016 Annual

Survey of Philippine Business and

Industry (ASPBI). It was participated

by sixty-six (66) representatives of

different sample business establish-

ments in the province.

The data dissemination and

respondents’ forum aimed to inform

each sample establishment the im-

portance of the survey, the impact of the results to the end user,

the proper steps in accomplishing the survey questionnaire, and

also to get feedback from them their concerns about the survey.

The enumeration was conducted in April 10-29, 2017 with 387 sample households in the munici-palities of Baao, Bato, Buhi, Bula, Goa, Lagonoy, Libmanan, Milaor, Minala-bac, Nabua, Ocampo, Pamplona, Ragay, Sipo-cot, and Tinambac, and in the cities of Iriga and Naga.

April 2017 LFS was a tablet-aided survey

conducted to simplify enumeration and post-enumeration process.

The LFS, a quarterly household sur-vey, aims to provide a quantitative framework

for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.

Specifically, the survey is designed to pro-vide statistics on levels
