What happens after an exam – results and progression
Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers
Every learner gets a certificate
A maximum of five shields for each part of the test (Reading & Writing paper, Listening paper, Speaking paper)
The back of the certificate explains what the results mean
What happens after their exam
For most exams you will receive detailed feedback about your child’s performance, including:
• Their overall language level
• Their level in each individual skill
The Cambridge English Scale is used across all the exams to provide
detailed results
It shows exactly how learners have performed within each CEFR level
and from one exam to the next
This information helps teachers and learners take action on problem
areas and set new learning goals

“Universia Santander is a corporate social
responsibility project from the Santander bank.
In every organisation you have to test the
people you have because they may believe they
have a certain level of English and then when
they are tested, they have a different level.
We think the Cambridge English exams are a
good way to prove a level of English.”
