WHAT IS KEY(KET)?
“Cambridge English: Key” is also abbreviated asKET and is a Cambridge examination. To pass
this exam you need at least A2 knowledge. With the Key Certificate, you therefore prove tohave language skills at a basic level and can use
simple communication e.g. family, job,geographical location etc...

If you take the KET exam and reach a level ofB1 Preliminary (140 points or more CambridgeEnglish scale score), you will still not receive a
PET certificate.

There are five parts in the Reading and two parts in the Writing.

Both Writing parts each have a maximum of 15 marks available.
How many parts are in the Reading and Writing?Both Reading and Writing are taken on the same paperbut are given two separate grades. Candidates aregiven 60 minutes to complete both parts. Reading andWriting are worth 50% (25% each) of the overall exam.
Are Reading and Writing taken together?
The maximum Reading score is 30 points and the maximumWriting score is 30 points which correspond to 150 (B1) on theCambridge English scale score.

Time management can be a challenging factor of theKET exam. Candidates have approx. 6 minutes tocomplete each Reading part and 15 minutes to do eachWriting part.

Can candidates choose their partner?This depends on the exam event that you register for. Thisinformation is usually given to candidates before they register.
Are the Writing and Speaking exam on the same day?
The maximum speaking score is 45 points which correspondsto 150 (B1) on the Cambridge English scale score.
