Cambridge Assessment International Education(CAIE) is the world’s largest provider of international education programs and qualifications having been established over 150 years ago. Currently, there are over 10,000 Cambridge schools in more than 160 countries. Cambridge Lower Secondary Cambridge Lower Secondary also known as Key Stage 3 or Secondary 1 is a level of learning under the Cambridge curriculum and consists of Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 groups. Cambridge Assessment Cambridge Lower Secondary includes two testing options: • Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests and • Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. These assessments provide an international reference of student achievement, helping teachers to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on progression routes. Our year 9 students sit for Cambridge Checkpoint examination once a year, in April and results published in August. The following subject areas are examined; • English, • Mathematics, • Science and • Global Perspective. They are also assessed internally on a regular basis through a range of different methods including tests, coursework, homework, term papers and teacher observation just like years 7 and 8. • Biology • Chemistry • Drama • Economics • Life Skills • Mathematics • Art & Design • Music • Physics • Geography • History • French • Spanish • German • Turkish • Literature • Mind Games • Physical Education • Global Perspectives • English as a First language • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) This level too consists of subject content, planning and resource guides, guidance for curriculum implementation, development, and support for learning. As a program developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond the school. It also allows a school to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the demands of the IGCSE courses in these subjects. The evidence will demonstrate what you have learnt and will be looked at during moderation by your assessors.
