Due to continued expansion and the merger of smartboxx into CamdenBoss Ltd, we are seeking several driven and enthusiastic Design Engineers to join our busy design and development team.

This Trainee Design Engineer position is ideally suited to a college or university graduate, or equally a person with a few years practical experience seeking to expand their career. Working from design briefs to create solutions for new products that are innovative, practical and suitable for manufacturing through both on site production and outsourced services.

Desirable skills for this role include: Creative flare and technically minded Some understanding of materials properties and manufacturing processes. Communication skills suitable for dealing with both customers and suppliers. Familiarity with electronic, electrical and IT components. 2D & 3D CAD skills, with an ability to both understand and develop technical solutions.

Essential skills for this role include: Attention to detail and set-motivated. Being able to multitask, working to both set and moving deadlines. An excellent work ethic, driven to succeed, able to work alone and alongside others.

Possible duties covered by this role include: Taking product specifications and concepts from Technical Sales or the NPI (New Product Introduction) team and carry-out detailed ‘ready-for-manufacture’ product design and 3D CAD work. Preparing information ready for production and sourcing; generating full sets of part and assembly production drawings and updating operation and BOM details on MRP and CRM systems. Working to ISO procedures and work instructions.

Training will be given in all required software packages, with opportunities given for development within all divisions of CamdenBoss, starting within smartboxx custom enclosures and then expanding to enclosure projects, complete IoT solutions and products carrying CamdenBoss’s own IP, into high-spec medical designs, Apple compatible products and electronic components.
