CAMERA SHOTS
EXTREME LOG SHOT - LONG SHOT
• Extreme long shot (XLS) consists of a character and a setting being seen in the shot usually being tall or wide structures, this is mainly used with establishing shots.
• Very long shot (VLS) can be used to grant the audience more detail on key characters in the current scene, also to show characters leaving or exiting a larger structures.
• A long shot (LS) can be used to introduce a character doing something relevant or not to allow the audience to grasp the characters relevance.
MEDIUM LONG SHOT – MEDIUM CLOSE UP
• Medium long shot(MLS) allows for extra detail on the characters features from thigh to the head. Also allowing us from rule of three to a point importance if there are other characters in the shot.
• Medium shot (MS) is a shot allowing for facial expressions to be seen more clearly by the audience to allow the acting to take effect.
• Medium close-up (MCU) is basically more in-depth than a Medium shot.
CLOSE UP – EXTREME CLOSE UP
• A Close up (CU) is used to focus on everything immediately in front of the camera blurring out the background.
• An Extreme close up is used to capture specific facial parts and magnify on them more than a close up.
