A Letter from the Coach

Dear Parents, My name is Paul Kostacopoulos, Kosty for short, and I am extremely proud to be the Head Baseball Coach at the United States Naval Academy.  Along with the responsibility of coaching the Midshipmen, I also take a sincere interest in running one of the top baseball camps in the country.  My goal, along with the staff and players, is to have your son learn the game of baseball in a positive, fun-filled atmosphere while preparing him for the upcoming season. “Thanks coach…thanks for one of the best experiences of my life” is a common theme we get from former campers. The Navy Baseball National Leadership Experience will be held at our baseball complex, Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium, on the “Yard” of the United States Naval Academy.

Since developing this camp 9 years ago, an average of about 110 players per year have been in attendance. This year will mark the second time we have exclusively run a day camp for youth players. We are extremely excited about the switch and we feel that this will provide a better baseball experience to our campers. The staff will consist of myself, my assistant coaches, other high school and college coaches from around the country, as well as some of our current players.

This particular camp provides a tremendous opportunity for your son to work directly with Division I baseball players and coaches.  It is also designed to give all youth players a true look at the leadership culture that makes the Naval Academy one of the most intriguing institutions in the United States.  Our goal is to provide a competitive baseball atmosphere with the most energized teaching and coaching possible.  We also plan to give all players a true taste of the leadership training that we provide to our Midshipmen so that they can apply it to their own high school and summer teams throughout the remainder of their time in high school. We look forward to seeing your son in camp! Sincerely, Paul KostacopoulosHead Baseball Coach
