The New F-D-I-A is on the horizon! Not quite "Four Days in August," but a "Few Days in August." The time is now to prepare for a once in a lifetime, one time only, Samoset I and II reunion (well, if you don’t count the 1988 reunion in Casco)! The physical camp as we knew it sadly is now gone, but it has always been about the people. And it’s time to bring as many of the people back together again. I am in the position to host a Samoset reunion and am inviting all "crampers" and counselors who attended Samoset I and Samoset II to the "FDIA - The Samoset III Reunion." The Weekend of: Friday, August 26 - Sunday, August 28, 2011. While there is no longer camp in Gilford, Turner or Casco, I run a camp in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Camp Towanda is happy to host “The Few Days In August” (aka: The New FDIA). It's not our Samoset of yesteryear, but it will give everyone the chance to get together, unwind and relive what we all once had…. a weekend at camp! This coming summer! During FDIA, we'll reminisce and possibly re-live campfires, Watermelon League, Ghost, Cross Country, Hole-In-One, Waiter Basketball and TSIMAS, along with Mayorality, Bunk Feast, Lazy Day and Declamation! Well, at least we'll share the stories of those events from days gone by. While it may seem far away, the planning must begin on everyone's part now!! To start, mark your calendars in ink (or in a non-delete-able calendar) and start spreading the word. With enough demand, we’ll arrange buses from Boston, New York City, Newark Airport, Scranton Airport and/or Newburgh, NY's Stewart Airport. So get out your trunks and duffel bags (sky hooks and truck stretchers will be available upon request). Towanda is located just 2½ hours from midtown Manhattan in the rolling countryside of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Please be sure you and your Samoset friends sign in on our website, www.campsamosetalumni.com today. The more people you can reach out to, the more of a success this will be!! We need commitments by February 1, 2011. Think: Klaxxon, The Brimmer, Shmagoola, FOD’s Foon & Niktahs, Flip the Disc, RFBPITA, Fenton (optional, of course), nectar of the gods, the drums, color war, FTGOC, mvm-mvs and Lest We Forget... Lobster Pound, Square Peg, The Press Shack, Hush Puppy and White Dog! Hope to hear from you soon. If you can help find some old friends, you can reach out to me or Richie Alpert ([email protected]) who is helping me plan this historic weekend. Camp Samoset III Where The Alumni of Samoset I & II Live

www.campsamosetalumni.com November 10, 2010

Dear Fellow Samoset Alum,

Fellas, this is exciting!

Hope to hear from you soon. If you can help find some old friends, you can reach out to me or Richie Alpert ([email protected]) who is helping me plan this historic weekend.
