Carcinoembryonic (Colon) Marker (CEA)CEA is a protein normally found in very low levels in the blood of adults.The most common cancers that cause high CEA levels are the colonand rectum.
Germ Cell Marker/Beta HCG This test diagnoses or monitors germ cell tumours(e.g., non-seminomatous germ cell tumours, testicular or placentalchoriocarcinomas hydatidiform moles, seminomas, and gestationaltrophoblastic disease. Elevated levels of this hormone require furtherinvestigation to exclude a cancer diagnosis.
Nose & Throat Marker (EBV)Epstein-Barr Virus is a common virus, which can be linked to several rarecancers; Hodgkin Lymphoma, Nasopharyngeal carcinoma etc.

Please present the necessary documents (identification card,passport, staff pass) for verification upon registration.
As the blood tests require you to be fasted, please abstain fromFood and drinks for at least 10 hours before your scheduledappointment. Sips of plain water are allowed.
Please do not take medicine or insulin for diabetes in the morningof the scheduled appointment. Medicine for high bloodpressure and heart conditions can be continued.
For your comfort and convenience of medical examination andblood taking, it is preferable to wear a loose outfit.
If you have a vision test, please bring along any prescribed glassesfor the tests. Do inform our staff if you are wearing contact lenseson the day of your appointment.
Containers will be provided for collection of urine and stoolSpecimens on the day of screening. Do collect mid-stream urine toAvoid contamination of the sample. Collect one scoop of stoolusing the spatula from the bottle provided the night before or inthe morning of your appointment.
(For ladies only) Urine and stool and tests are preferably done atLeast 5 days before/after the start/end of your menstruation.Avoid sexual intercourse, use of spermicides, vaginal creams ormedications, lubricants and tampons 48 hours prior to yourappointment.

Radiology Preparations(if you are taking the following assessments)
For your comfort and convenience of the medical examination, it is preferable to wear a two-piece outfit. Please bring along your past medical records and scan results if any.
Cardiac Treadmill Stress ECG testPlease bring your sports attire. Medications such as beta-blocker may need to be omitted 24-48 hours before the tests. You are advised to discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
Ultrasound AbdomenFasting is required at least 8 hours before the examination.
Ultrasound Pelvis / ProstateYou are to drink at least 5 to 6 glasses of water one hour before the examination. You are not to empty your bladder until the test is done. A full bladder forms an acoustic window for the ultrasonic waves to detect the size and shape of the pelvic organs.
Ultrasound Breasts / MammogramYou may be asked to change into an x-ray gown and to remove any jewellery before the scan. Please refrain from applying perfume, powder or deodorant on the breast or armpit area. You will be asked to certify that you are not pregnant. If there is any possibility of pregnancy, this should be brought to the attention of the physician or radiographer or nurse attending to you.
