BANK OF ENGLAND TARGET 2.0 CHALLENGE

After much preparation, on Monday 16th November the Campion team for the Bank of England Target 2.0 Challenge set off on the train to London to take part in the regional finals. As a group we had been given the task of preparing a combination of monetary policy decisions that would help the UK to return inflation to the target rate of 2.0%, which would be presented to a number of judges who were senior officials at the Bank of England.

After a quick train journey to Moorgate and the impressive Prudential Regulation Authority building that was hosting the event, we had the opportunity to watch one of our fellow competitors before it was our turn. Despite our initial nerves of presenting in front of a large room of strangers, we were able to present with confidence and we were commended for our analysis of the housing market. The judges then asked us a series of challenging questions about our proposal, which severely tested our knowledge and understanding of what we had just said! Taking part in this unique experience allowed us all to improve our public speaking skills, which will be extremely useful to us in the future when starting university and for our future careers.

SAINT FRANCIS HOSPICE

Over the past number of weeks, Year 7 pupils, Joseph Williams and Marco Mensah, have been tirelessly raising funds for Saint Francis Hospice. Armed with two buckets of keys, pupils and staff alike were invited to guess the number of keys that the buckets held. The prizes of footballs and a rugby ball certainly piqued the interest of the pupils and in all they raised over £45. The lucky winners of the competition were Harry Dev, Murray Lyall and Oliver Belam, all Year 7 pupils. The charity was delighted to be informed of the efforts of the boys and pass on their

MATCHED FUNDING

Can you help?

You and your company can help double our profits at events through the matched funding scheme. It is a great way for companies to support charities by giving their money to the school instead of the tax man! Most financial institutions and corporations are geared up for this as well as many smaller companies, so please look at your company website or ask your Human Resource Advisor if they would consider matched funding. In most cases all that is needed is a form to be completed and a letter of confirmation from the school and, of course, we will do all the paperwork for you. If you have any questions please call Deirdre Pembroke on

07977 071128.
