It now displays the Society’s maritime collection, ranging from a life-size dive suit used in the creation of the Harbor Refuge to precious artifacts from the collapsed Cape Henlopen Lighthouse.$5 per person or is included in the ticket price of the Maritime Tour or free for members, students with ID cards, and kids under 12.

Known for its heroic surfmen’s actions during the great Blizzard of 1888, The Lewes Life-Saving Station exhibits the tools and artifacts used by surfmen to rescue victims of shipwrecks up and down the coast. Located on the Canalfront, at the intersection of Pilottown Road and Shipcarpenter Streets, the Lewes Life-Saving Station is open during scheduled hours and is a part of the Maritime Tour. Celebrating the 53rd Anniversary of its Outdoor Antiques Show in 2016,

nearly 60 high quality antiques dealers will highlight their 18th century to early 20th century antiques. Last

year, the show attracted over 2,500 visitors. All pieces are authentic and

represent a wide range of prices. There is something for every taste and every level of collecting-sophistication

at the show. During the show, enjoy live festive music, tasty lunch,

ice cream and more.

The Lewes Historical Society is proud to present the 13th Annual Cannonball Race & Trenny Elliott Memorial 1 Mile Walk in 2016. The race benefi ts the Society’s preservation and educational programming. The course includes breath-taking scenery along Pilottown Road, views of the Great Marsh, Shipcarpenter Square, Second Street, and the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal. A description of the historic sites along the race route will be included in your registration papers.

vessels of all sizes were built on “Lewes Creek.” Join The Lewes Historical Society as we rekindle this tradition in Lewes as part of our Family

Boat Building Weekend. Come cheer on the boat

builders as they launch their newly constructed vessels!

Wooden boat construction will take place throughout the weekend at The Lewes Life-Saving Station on the

Canal at Shipcarpenter Street and Pilottown Road. The boat

Looking for a unique way to see Historic Lewes and to learn about our maritime heritage? Join Quest Kayak on a tour of the Lewes waterways. � is tour is narrated by our Executive Director and includes stories of shipwrecks, pirates, lighthouses, and more. Quest Kayak off ers a short paddling tutorial prior to each trip. Tours generally last three hours, weather permitting.

Lewes has multiple diff erent architectural styles and building eras. � is 60-minute tour includes an introduction of the historic district and various stylistic elements, with an emphasis on the Victorian era and the homes of some of the important historic personalities and families of Lewes’s past.
