CAN ,theflexiblesolutionforawiderangeofapplications,offersnumerousconfigurationandex-pansionoptions.Itisbasedaroundacentralinstru-mentwhichcanbeeitheratachometeroraspeedo-meter.ThecentralinstrumentfeaturestwoCANinputssupportingdifferentCANprotocols,twofrequencyin-puts,threeresistiveinputs,one4–20mAinput,plusone0–5Vinput.Inaddition,itisequippedwithtwoswitchedoutputs,aconfigurabledigitaldisplayfield,andmore.

Threesamplestandardapplicationsareshownbelow.

Sample requirement:Ageneratoristobefittedwithatacho-metermeasuringupto3,000rpm.ThereisonlyoneCANbus;thelimitvaluesandsettingsareclearlydefined.

CAN provides the solution:Oncethetachometerhasbeensetupasthecentralinstrumentyouwillhaveaccesstothedesiredtachometerdisplayandtheoptionofviewingotherdata,e.g.aspartofaninspectionroutine,asandwhenrequired.Alldatacanbedisplayed

onthecentralinstrument,allowingyoutomonitorcurrentenginedataatanytimewithouttheneedforothersatelliteinstruments.
