Can You Have Too Much Animated Content?

It is not a question companies ask often, but those who get involved in animation for their advertising and promotion might start to wonder if they are actually going overboard with the creative content. There are arguments for and against this idea, some of which are listed below.

“Yes – You Can Have Too Much Animation” Some who feel that a company or an organization can have too much animation believe that it loses its attractiveness and appeal. Animation is about creativity and imagination – it catches the eye and can take us to places we have never before dreamed. But if companies do nothing but churn out animated content, it might become stale. The videos lose their magic and just become videos with familiarity, meaning it can turn off people quicker since their interest in it is low. The argument can also be made for companies who feel that everything must become animated –ads, explainer videos, introduction clips, announcements, etc. After a while, the colors and characters can become annoying to some. “No – There is No Such Thing!” Opponents of this idea would argue that there is no sound argument for suggesting that you can have too much animation. There is no scale to determine if a company has gone over some limit in animated content. Not only that, content like animated advertisements is not binge-watched – people see them when they appear on television or on the Internet – so the idea of ‘too much’ does not really apply. Besides that, animation is supposed to be creative and engaging. If viewers start thinking a company’s animated advertisements are stale, then it is the responsibility of both the production studio and the company to make the necessary script and story changes so that viewers can become engaged. Placing the right effort and energy into animation production will lead to quality animation. What’s the Verdict? While the decision and opinion rests with the company, it is difficult for a company to have too much animation. No one ever complains because a company puts out too much animated content – they complain when that content is no good. If companies and animation production studios work to create quality animation, the rest will take care of itself. Companies and organizations looking to add animated content should first consult with an animation production studio to learn which styles are right for them. Animation production studios can detail to companies the different styles of animation and their popular uses in business. From there, the two groups can work together and create imaginative content to engage viewers and promote the brand.
