Hello all, I would like to start on a personal note – Our boat is back in Seattle after a beautiful trip last week down from Sidney. - Yeah As there were no events in February, on to the next events: 1.

March 12th, Rat City Roller Girls. Get your tickets online and join us. We will be meeting at the Jersey’s Great Food and Spirits at 1306 N 175th St Ste. 101, Shoreline, WA 98133 prior to the bout. (Editors Note: Event is at the Rat’s Nest: 190th and Aurora Ave N, Shoreline, WA. Doors Open at 4:30, Event starts at 5:30) 2.The Garlic festival is coming up at the beginning of April hosted by Terry and Dane Fantz and Vic and Kari Portolese. 3. The Tacoma Daffodil Festival

April 15th to the 17th. This is a great opportunity to meet other boaters and yacht clubs. There are lots of fun events during the weekend. To attend, please go on line Tacoma Yacht Club and

register. This should be done before March 20th. There is no charge for the event or moorage but I suggest you purchase the meal package. Please let Kris Ridenour know if you plan to attend.

Other notes: We would like to discuss some ideas to increase club membership, make rendezvous easier and cheaper to host. If you have an interest or ideas, please come to the March meeting. Some items up for consideration include:

No cost partial events (educational talks or cocktail hours) to get new interest in the club.

Advertising events in local

boating magazines (48 North or 3 sheets NW).

More potlucks, less material

supplied by the club such as plates, cups and alcohol.

Terry Fantz has put together a

great draft on how to host a rendezvous which we would like to finalize at the meeting.

Calling for volunteers: We need

your help!! We need help with the Pt Hudson rendezvous and the Crab Fest. There are openings for a Hidden Harbor Secretary and Fleet caption. Finally, this is Hidden Harbor’s 40th anniversary this year. We would like to put together a short history to celebrate this occasion. We will need a committee to determine the best way to create this history. I would be happy to head this up but I sure need some help gathering the history and to determine the format that best suits the club. So if you have ideas or comments on any of these topics, please attend the March meeting and help to decide the future course of Hidden Harbor Yacht Club. See you there. Mary Scott Commodore

Dubai launches new design for worlds largest tower OR—How not to burn your boat up!

OK these are not pictures of some

new exotic hotel; and for those of you that missed the December meeting, you got to see first hand what can happen when batteries short out. This has happened and can start fires. 9 volt batteries have their terminals located in a way that allows them to contact other surfaces with relative ease,, and in this case it was another battery that just happened to have metal sides. Most of us carry spare batteries for flash lights, remote control and other devices aboard our boats. I have mine in a ziplock type bag and this happened. Now all my batteries have protective tape over the terminals……

Be safe out there
