DST ensures safe MRH90 operations 2017 - 05 - 08 -

www.shephardmedia.com

A team of forensic engineers from Australia’s Defence Science and Technology (DST) organisation is using forensic engineering techniques and computational fluid analyses of airflow to ensure the safety of the country’s MRH90 aircraft, the Australian Department of Defence announced on 4 May. Since its introduction into service, Australia’s MRH90 helicopter has encountered a series of serious incidents. The latest incident involved an Australian MRH90 Navy helicopter aboard HMAS Canberra, where excessive updrafts of wind coming up the side of the ship during the helicopter shutdown process caused the helicopter blades to act erratically leading to unfavourable blade orientation. A forensic investigation involving Airbus Group Australia Pacific, Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group and DST helped… Lire la suite

BAE hits milestone with new F-15 electronic warfare system 2017 - 05 - 02 - www.upi.com

The embassy’s statement also said the pods “will enhance Indonesia’s maritime and territorial defenses while operating seamlessly with the United States and other regional partners,” adding that they are for the Indonesian F-16A/B fighters stationed at Iswahyudi Air Base in the eastern part of the main Indonesian island of Java. However, Indonesian sources have told Defense News that the base is now home to the newer F-16C/D Block 52ID version. It is also unlikely that Indonesia’s F-16A/Bs, which are older Block 15 models acquired in the 1980s and have not received any upgrades, will be able to utilize the sniper pods, which will be produced by Lockheed at its Missiles and Fire Control facility in Orlando, Florida. The Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod provides improved, long-range target detection, identification and continuous stabilized surveillance for all missions, including close-air... Lire la suite
