Welcome to Canada, the second largest country in the world.   Canada's flag has a maple leaf because there are many

maple trees in this country.

The Capital of Canada is, Ottawa Canada's People

Most Canadians first came from Europe but many are native Indian and Eskimos.    Eskimo people are called "Inuits".  Many still live in far off, arctic areas of Canada. 

Canada has two main languages, French and English.

Native people called "Inuits" still follow traditional ways of living.

Canada is a country that covers most of  the north half of North America.  

Our name, Canada probably comes from kanata-kon, an Iroquois Indian word that means to the village or to the small houses.

Hockey and LaCrosse are Canada’s National sports.

Canada’s Cities: Canada is made up of 10 provinces:

Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia and there are also 3 territories. 

Canada is a nation on it’s own, but still makes the Queen of Great Britain as its head of state. 

Great Britain ruled Canada until 1867.

Food in Canada Canadian foods first came from the

British and the French who first came to Canada.

Canadians eat many of the same foods that you do.   Fish and seafood are a lot because of the many fishing business.  Canada also produces many fruits such as apples, cranberries, pears, plums, and peaches. 

About 75% of the world's maple syrup comes from Canada.

1. Beaver Tails: pastry made flat, like a Beaver Tail.
