There are special events, festivals and historical re-enactments in almost every community. I’m excited to see the Canada Day parade and fireworks in my town, and visit some other unique places during the summer. A: When it’s a tie game CREATE YOUR OWN TIME CAPSULE One of my favourite things about my birthday each year is looking back at old photos of me – in the tub when I was a baby, my first birthday when I smashed my cake, or the first time a rode a bike. I love seeing how much I’ve grown, and I laugh at the clothes I wore when I was younger, or my funny hair style. This year, my friends and I are each making a TIME CAPSULE to look at in the future, to collect memories of the way life is today. You can join us - it will be fun to see how much things change! Choose a container for your time capsule. You can use a coffee can, shoe box, Pringles container or a plastic box from the dollar store – anything with a lid. Some things you could place in your time capsule: Pictures of you and your friend Pictures of your home or pet A list of your favourite foods A letter to yourself A small toy/item Drawings A newspaper A list of your favourite movies, video games or books A hand or foot print Aſter your time capsule is filled, decorate the container. Remember to place a label on the outside with your name, the date you seal the container, and the date you’d like to open it in the future. Find a safe, dry place to store your time capsule until you’re ready to open it – no peeking! Parents, write a letter to your child and add to their time capsule just before closing. It will be a wonderful surprise for them to read in the future! Your Libro Coaches want to help you instill healthy financial habits into your children at an early age, and we think learning about our heritage and the unique beauty of our surroundings is important too! Why not combine the two? Ask your kids for help when planning a vacation or day trip, there’s a lot they can learn. How much is admission to a park or groceries for the trip?
